The Sights and Sounds of the New Church
During Advent and especially at Christmas, one may notice a change in the atmosphere of the church. The tone during Advent sets the stage to allow us to peacefully await the coming of our Lord's birth. With His arrival, the sights and sounds of Christmas bring a brilliance to the church.

What we see and hear during Mass any time of year impacts the experience. In the new church, the attention to detail, the artwork, and the sounds we hear will create an enhanced atmosphere of warmth, history and God's love.

This issue of "The Road to the Dedication" focuses on some of the sights and sounds of the new Church, with a vision toward next Christmas, our "first Christmas" in the new Church as a unified family of God.
The Organ
Organ The cornerstone of the many dimensions to our musical worship at Mass is the organ. As mentioned in a previous bulletin article, the existing organ pipes are being fitted with the old pipes from the Basilica at the University of Notre Dame, and a new organ console. "The new console will have five keyboards, allowing for more sound and 'color', yet not producing a much louder sound," says Jeremy Hoy, Director of Music and Liturgy.

Since the existing organ was a gift to the Church in 1992, all of the existing pipes, wind chests, winding, and other mechanisms will be repurposed with a few modifications to allow for better integration into the architecture of the new church.

The Choir

Providing a sense of familiarity from the current church to the new will be the location of the organ and choir. As you will see in this month's sneak peek video, the organ and music area will be located to the right of the altar.

The Bells

bells The four cast bronze bells recently installed in the prominent bell tower will serve as the sound of Saint Pius X to the community, calling parishioners to prayer and worship, commemorating weddings, honoring the deceased and singing the sound of beautiful music. The bells will be a remarkable replacement to the current sounds of the electronic bells.

The Angelus, a devotion commemorating the Incarnation of Jesus and including the Hail Mary, will be played daily at 12:00 noon and 6:00 p.m. During the school year, students will stop at 12:00 noon each day to recite the Angelus. Click HERE or the image above to learn about the history of the Angelus.
