The Beginning of the "Lasts"
GreenFather Bill Meininger mentioned in his homily on Sunday that he and Father Bill Schooler realized it was their last day to preach in the existing church in their green vestments! This weekend the church celebrates the Solemnity of Christ the King, and Advent follows. These last days in the church bring other "lasts" we will share: the last Sundays of Advent, the last Advent Lessons and Carols and the last Christmas. And we've already celebrated the last First Communion and Confirmation Masses this past Spring!

With each day closer to the Dedication of the new church, these "lasts" in the church we have grown to love and call home will cause us to pause and reflect on the special history we all have at Saint Pius and the joyful future we will embrace in the new facilities.

Notable Details
Etched Prophets in the Courtyard Windows

The windows surrounding the courtyard will
depict the four major Prophets and twelve minor Prophets of the Old Testament. Two of the major Prophets (Isaiah and Ezekiel) will be located on the north side of the courtyard in the two arched windows flanking the main entry (as part of the future stained glass project of the church). The remaining fourteen windows (six minor Prophets on the east and west side, and two major Prophets on the south side flanking the Baptistry entry) have an "etched" look.

The prophets called their people to be faithful to their Covenantal relationship with God, who was always faithful to them.  As we move from the Gathering Area and Baptismal Area through the corridors into the new church, the prophets etched into the glass lead us to Christ, whom we encounter in Word and Sacrament.

Watch the video below to see a few of the prophet windows, the Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry area, the vesting room and the grand entrance to the new church!
