'Tis the Season
An unpleasant topic that must be addressed is the visit of lice to the school. We have had a few isolated cases reported recently.
Saint Pius maintenance staff is diligent and thorough in disinfecting all potentially infected locations of the school. Please review the attached information
from our diocesan nurse regarding head lice. Please check your child's head to be sure they are not carrying the "nits" (pre-hatched egg).
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our school Health Office, 574-272-4935, x145.
Allergies Part II: Are We Informed?
The health office of Saint Pius School completes an Emergency Care Plan for all students with allergies. This plan MUST be updated annually.
- Does your child have an allergy?
- Is the school aware of the allergy?
- Do we have a current plan in place for your child?
FACTS ABOUT ALLERGIES
: Abnormal immune response to a food protein
- A person can be allergic to anything with a protein ON it or IN it
- The body recognizes the protein as an invader and reacts
- The protein must contact a mucous membrane for an allergic reaction (mucous membrane locations=lips, mouth, inside nose, eyes, respiratory tract)
Eight Common Food Allergies:
No Parking on Curb
The curb in front of the PEC (school) is a fire lane. Even if you are picking up a child and will only be parked "for a minute", DO NOT park along the curb, per the Fire Marshall. (The exception to this rule is during the dismissal process).
Thank you for your cooperation.
