INTRODUCING THE NEWEST STAFF MEMBERS OF SAINT PIUS SCHOOL!
|
May Bennett
Preschool Assistant
"Hello Saint Pius families. I live in Cassopolis with my husband Jason of 13 years and our six year old daughter London. I have my bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I love spending time with my family, reading, writing and photography. My favorite things about working with kids is hearing their thoughts on the world and of course hugs. I feel blessed to have found Saint Pius and am looking forward to the rest of the school year, and meeting many of the preschool families."

 Lewis Ann Deputy
Teaching Assistant-First Grade
"My name is Lewis Anne Deputy. I have been married to John Deputy for 21 years. We are blessed with five beautiful children (Emily, Jack, David, Ashley, and Laura). We also have a nine month old golden retriever Lexi. I am incredibly thankful to be a part of the Saint Pius school and church community. I feel very blessed that God is allowing me to serve as Vicki Troester's first grade aide. Prior to staying at home with our children for the last 17 years, I worked as a commercial credit analyst, commercial banker, commercial credit department manager, private banking officer, and a mortgage loan officer. I am enjoying working with the first graders because they are so much fun. The days pass by very quickly and no day is the same as the other."

Megan Kirkland
Fourth Grade
mkirkland@stpius.net
"I am thrilled to be teaching at Saint Pius X this year. These past few weeks have been wonderful, and I've really enjoyed getting to know the students, parents, and staff that make this school so special. I have been working in Catholic education for the past seven years, teaching both third and fourth grade. I am originally from central Illinois, and earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois. After graduating, I felt the call to teach and was accepted into Notre Dame's Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) program. Through ACE I taught in Los Angeles for two years. Upon earning my M.Ed., I moved to Charlotte, NC to be closer to my family. After only a year in the beautiful Carolinas, my husband took a job with ACE, and we moved back to South Bend. We are now entering our fourth year in the area, and love making it our home. We welcomed our daughter, Lucy, in May of 2015, and we couldn't imagine life without her! I hope to meet many of you over the course of this year, and I am excited to call Saint Pius home!"

 Samantha Kneibel
Band Director
skneibel@stpius.net
Samantha Kneibel moved to South Bend three years ago after teaching music and band at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School in Grand Rapids, MI. She received her music education degree at Valparaiso University and spent many summers on staff at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. Her love of music has allowed her to perform in many countries around the world. Mrs. Kneibel and her husband have a two year old daughter, Leah, and just welcomed their second daughter, Hanna Rose, into the world on August 25! Mrs. Kneibel will be joining us in November.

I also enjoy scrapbooking and reading in my spare time. During the summer, my favorite thing to do is spend time at the lake. I am a huge Notre Dame fan! I like to follow their football and hockey programs. Go Irish!"

 Sean McPherson
Middle School Science
smcpherson@stpius.net
"Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome to the Saint Pius X community. After going to a Catholic school from kindergarten through college, I am grateful for the opportunity be back in a Catholic classroom teaching middle school science. While originally from Colorado, I moved to South Bend to attend the University of Notre Dame. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree and a supplemental major in Theology, I received a Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship to attend Purdue University and complete a two-year master's degree in secondary science education. For the past two years, I taught at Triton Jr./Sr. High School in Bourbon, IN. Even though my wife and I love to travel (we spent nine weeks in Italy this past summer teaching English to K-8 Italian students), just over a year ago we decided to settle in the area and bought a house in South Bend. We are parishioners at St. Matthew's Cathedral, but often go to Holy Mass and other young adult activities at Saint Pius. If you happen to see me, please feel free to introduce yourself because I love to meet new people. I am looking forward to a great school year!"

 Symbol Moser
Library Assistant
"Hi Saint Pius families. I am from New Orleans. I graduated from Loyola. We moved to South Bend in 2011 after living in Baton Rouge, Silicon Valley, Dallas and Atlanta. We are enjoying life in Granger and I am thrilled to be working in the Library at Saint Pius."

 Melissa Pac
Teaching Assistant-Fifth Grade
Melissa Pac and her wonderful husband Brian have been married 16 years. They have 5 children who all attend Saint Pius. (Ethan 7th, Andrew 4th, Owen 3rd, Eli 2nd and Ella in 4/5 preschool.) The Pac Family have been members at Saint Pius since moving here from Georgia three years ago. Mrs. Pac's current hobbies revolve around her children. She enjoys building Legos, coloring princess pictures, singing songs with Daniel Tiger, and watching her kids play sports (you can usually hear her at the games). She also throws a great impromptu kitchen dance party much to her sons' embarrassment and daughter's delight. So far she loves working with the students and has found that her class is bringing her much joy! Mrs Pac is a big fan of J.O.Y. (Ask her she's happy to share) and is grateful for the blessing she's been given to work at our award winning school with this amazing staff!

Food Allergies in America and at Saint Pius
Did you know that over 15 million people suffer with food allergies in the United States? This is a 3-fold increase from 1997 and the reason is unknown.
At Saint Pius, there are students with allergies, some of which are severe and could be life-threatening.
In an effort to educate our School community and bring attention to ways we all can help protect our students with these allergies, we are continuing the "allergy awareness" series in the school newsletter.
Please view this compelling introductory clip and watch for important information coming in the next few months about this important topic.
As always, for the children!
