Safe Environment/Student Program
The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend created a safe environment educational program for all children enrolled in their Catholic schools and parish religious education programs. The diocese established this important program to fulfill one of the mandates of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.
In our diocese, children receive this educational program every year. During the months of October and November, your children will be presented this material during their religion classes. Grades preschool through 8th grade will be presented very age-specific safe environment training.
If you choose not to have your child receive this information, there is a form called an Opt Out form. You can access this form by contacting Kim Slott (kslott@stpius.net) or the Diocese of Fort Wayne/South Bend.
The diocese requires you to turn a form in each year. Please return the form as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact Kim Slott in the Religious Education office at 277-5760.
