ALL ABOUT AUSTIN

Austin Council Connections

February 25, 2014

Tomorrow, Friday, February 21, is the LAST day to register for Austin Council Connections. Reserve your spot and join us on Tuesday, February 25, for a workshop and networking reception at Abel's North Grill and Tap House in Austin.

Jan Triplett, Ph.D. and CEO of Business Success Center asks the question, "Does your business have a successful exit strategy?" Everything that people go into has an exit - planes, trains, buildings, offices, schools, homes. You go into business. Does your business have an exit that you can count on for your safety and well-being? It should: your business is your future. You will identify, analyze and evaluate the best approach and next steps for your business.

Topics to be covered:

  1. Identification of the major ways to exit or cash out of a business and what is required to make each one successful
  2. Analysis of the current status of your business and how to evaluate your current exit plan
  3. Evaluation of your goals in relation to your current status and preferred exit strategy
  4. How to get started and follow through: identification of resources, costs and timeline

Takeaways:

  1. Understand how to build a successful exit strategy
  2. Determine the best approach for your business and what's going to be required
  3. Begin the process needed to create your individual exit strategy with a potential timeline and costs

WBE NATIONAL CONFERENCE HOST COMMITTEE

WBEs, as you may know the WBENC National Conference will be in Austin, Texas in June of 2015! We are excited for the light to shine on our region and particularly our Texas capital city, Austin.

We have a unique opportunity to assemble a WBE Host Committee. There are a few spots left if you're interested in being one of the 12 selected members to represent WBCS. Please follow this link for a description of the cost, benefits and responsibilities of this sponsorship opportunity

Given that the Host Committee is limited to 12 WBE members, we will prioritize our selection of interested WBEs based on involvement in and contribution to WBCS, as well as diversity of members.  Please contact Debbie Hurst dhurst@wbcsouthwest.org or at 817-299-0566, ext 208 if interested in being considered for the Host Committee.

GALA RECAP
Thank you to everyone who attended the Annual Parade of Stars Awards Gala and made the night so special. The fun and excitement in the room was palpable; everyone was there to celebrate the accomplishments of our Council members.

Everyone who attended was a star for the night but the nominees and award winners were certainly shining the brightest. The winners included:
Awards were given, members were honored and prizes were won; there was even a surprise after party!

If you missed the event, or just didn't want the party to end, check out our Facebook pictures and our website pictures to relive the night!

The entire WBCS Staff would like to thank event co-chairs, Laura Wilson (fit to print) and David Robinson (Brinker International) and the entire Gala Committee. This event was so special thanks to your dedication and work.

CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE OPPORTUNITY

WBCS is recruiting volunteers to serve as members of our Certification Review Committee to perform site visits throughout our 4-state region. If you (or a company representative) are interested in volunteering a couple of hours each month to visit local applicants in your area, please let us know. Your time and talent would be greatly appreciated!

The site visit stage of the certification process is critical to the success of the certification program. An initial site visit is required for each new applicant and then every three years for recertification. The primary purpose of the site visit is to observe and verify the female applicant's ownership and involvement in the business, but it also provides an amazing opportunity for our volunteers to meet other business owners in their area.

Online training for new volunteers is available monthly and the next training sessions are scheduled for March 26 and 27. Please fill out the volunteer form and return it to Anita Steele.

Thank you for your consideration and we hope to hear from you soon!

REFER A FRIEND

WBEs, do you know a woman in business who could benefit from certification? Refer her today and after she receives her certification, you will earn a FREE general admission WBCS event ticket. Submitting a referral is quick and easy, so get started!
