IBM Named Corporation of the Year

IBM was named the 2013 National Minority Supplier Diversity Council Corporation of the Year for its unyielding dedication to improving the overall participation of Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American suppliers in the global corporate supply chain. A winner of the award in 2005, the tech giant's procurement spend in the U.S. tops $1.3 billion; another $778 million is spent abroad. Finalists for the award included Ford Motor Company, Johnson Controls, Raytheon and Toyota.

Additionally, Bank of America is the inaugural winner of NMSDC's Corporate Excellence in Access to Capital Award. The award recognizes a corporation with an exceptional corporate initiative and/or program designed to provide access to capital solutions or unique financial arrangements to minority suppliers.

Congratulations to IBM and Bank of America/Merrill Lynch!
POWER TO POTENTIAL RECAP
The WBCS annual business forum Power to Potential was held on November 5, 2013, at the Hurst Conference Center in the heart of the DFW Metroplex.

Attendees enjoyed a grab-and-go lunch before heading into the annual meeting where Done Deals awards were received. GENCO ATC received the momentum award for year to year supplier diversity growth. Marfield Corporate Stationery  and Prestige Maintenance USA were honored with the Women Working Together award. And, the Sustaining Champion Award went to Russ Damon of PepsiCo.

Following the meeting, we separated into break out sessions and corporate conversations. The day ended with a networking and cocktail reception complete with a carving station, a mashed potato bar, and let's not forget- a chocolate fountain!

Thank you to our sponsors and to everyone who made this event such a success! Be sure to check out Facebook page and website for more pictures!
