WBENC Presidents Report

Check out the October 2013 WBENC President's Report. Pamela Prince-Eason discusses her experience with the Women's Business Council-Southwest at Harvesting Partnerships and gives some interesting figures on women in business. According to her article, "Recent studies have shown 51% of U.S. private wealth is controlled by women, in addition women make nearly 85% of all purchasing decisions, equating to an estimated $15 trillion."

Trans-Expedite Wins Cisco's  
Best Diverse Supplier Award!!

Trans-Expedite was awarded the Best Diverse Supplier Award for Cisco Systems at this years Supplier Appreciation event in San Jose, CA.

 

Doing business with small and diverse suppliers is an important aspect of Cisco's supply chain philosophy. The Best Diverse Supplier award is given to the supplier that consistently delivers top performance and contributes to Cisco's overall success and bottom line.

 

"To qualify for the Best Diverse Supplier Award the nominees must be either a small, disadvantaged, minority, woman or veteran-owned enterprise," commented Keeli Jernigan, CEO and President, Trans-Expedite. "We are proud to be a certified Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) and have worked very hard to be a valued partner with Cisco. To be recognized as such is an honor."

 

In introducing Trans-Expedite at the award presentation, a Cisco executive stated that Trans-Expedite has consistently provided outstanding service and flexibility. They have demonstrated their willingness to accept new challenges and have gone above and beyond to support Cisco's evolving, long-term logistics strategies.

Power to Potential is an annual forum for corporations and Women's Business Enterprises (WBEs) to share best practices among their peers. We'll start the day by sharing the power of working together through our Done Deals

Recognition event. Additionally, Debbie Hurst, WBCS president, will recap 2013 and share plans for 2014 with the membership.  

 

The day continues with breakout sessions:  

  • Track 1 (WBEs only) - WBEs will explore the diverse business opportunities through purchasing and partnering with one another, and opportunities in government contracting.
  • Track 2 (Corporations only) - Corporations will share frank conversations about successes and challenges in the utilization of WBEs. These conversations will benefit all corporate stakeholders.
