TRIBUTE
|
John P. Kelly The Black Contractors Association mourns the loss of their beloved Executive Director, John Kelly who lost his courageous battle with cancer on August 6, 2013 at 11:45 pm. John Kelly served as a tireless advocate for the small, minority, and women-owned business enterprise (S/MWBE) community. John's passion for economic development and capacity building allowed him to share countless hours of service, mentorship, business knowledge to the BCA, S/MWBEs, advisory councils, other associations and those he touched on an individual basis.
He leaves a legacy of servant leadership that is not only evident in his fight for justice and equality for small and minority-owned businesses but in his pursuit to better the human condition.
In his cooperative effort, he was on the Board of Directors for the Greater Dallas Planning Commission(GDPC), an active member of the NTTA Advisory Council and partner in the Cooperative Inclusion Plan (CIP). He was also associated with the Omni Diversity Program, North Central Texas Regional Certification Agency (NCTRCA) , Dallas Fort Worth Minority Development Council (DFW/MSDC), Regional Hispanic Contractors Association (RHCA), Asian American Contractors Association (AACA), Dallas Black Chamber, Fort Worth Black Chamber and the Interagency Council.
He worked with the Women's Business Council- Southwest in a variety of roles for many years. He was always a strong advocate and a colleague who will be missed.
