Dear Reader,

Thank you for taking the time to read my notes, thoughts, and news links for what I've called the knowledge economy, but the more appropriate phrase is the sharing economy. My goal for the scratch sheet has always been to share relevant and timely information on the bioproduct market, and specifically the bioplastic industry.

As I grow in the renewable product market space it was important for me to share the resources to encourage greater communication. It is important that we share our common knowledge to thread together local supply chains to help build more sustainable communities.

One key process cannot change our economy, but many key changes can help us become a more sustainable economic engine. The scratch sheet has always tried to share news supporting local supply chains for renewable products. The stories are part of my argument for a more sustainable and local supply chain.

Dr. Nayaran's new carbon argument led me to believe in a process to harvest methane from renewable sources. His bioplastic 101 is relevant today: http://sperecycling.org/sites/sperecycling.org/files/gpec/GPEC2007/papers/B1.pdf

Sharing stories like how Sweden and India are collectively working to build local supply chains for renewable energy using organic waste. This collaboration is creating a more sustainable community environment by harvesting and harnessing new carbon energy and nutrients: https://www.energimyndigheten.se/Global/Internationellt/Exportfr%C3%A4mjande%20o%20Bilateralt/BiogasIndiaAnp.pdf

We attended the Sustainable Packaging 2014 (SustPack14) discussion last week, and we have many news stories to share going forward like this one from Waste2Worth: http://bayanihan.org/2013/07/20/pangasinan-mayors-keen-on-waste-2-worth-tech-to-rid-towns-of-their-garbage/

Or, this report on the circular economy: http://www.ellenmacarthurfoundation.org/circular-economy

Whether it's the sharing, knowledge, or circular economy, one thing is for certain, we all want a stronger US economy while preserving the environment for future generations.

Sincerely,

John Baldus
