Wisconsin's Polar Vortex and Keeping Cool Frequent readers of the Scratch Sheet may recognize my affinity for biogas - some may argue that I'm full of biogas. With temperatures plummeting why am I thinking about keeping cool in the summertime? I'm not, and had been looking for a quick read on combined heat and power (CHP) while watching the waste heat leaving via the home heating units when I stumbled onto this simple yet effective air conditioning unit.

Recycling Christmas Trees into Auto Parts Lincoln Motor Company, Weyerhaeuser and Wisconsin-based Johnson Controls collaborated to use cellulose and polypropylene together to create a high-strength fiberglass replacement. The trio said the hybrid product is more environmentally friendly than traditional fiberglass, and helps cut weight of traditional fiberglass by 6%. How much fiberglass a Lincoln MDX has to replace isn't known. Maybe a sales rep will know when queried. Read more at Environmental Leader |
And,Designing Bio-Feedstock for Bioenergy Applications

A Sign of the Times TAPPI's Caught in the Net email service sent out a best-of list from 2013, and I saw this headline: 'Smart' disposable diapers could hit market this year. Reported by the Tiapei Times, but I stopped reading when electronic and diapers were used together to form "electronic diapers." Yes, I'll leave it to you the reader to decide if electronics and diapers should be used together. They even devised something called a 'sensing system,' and I do not want to know what that means. It's an exhaustive list, and recommending readers sign up for the TAPPI eblast - hey, it's better than this rag. Look over the best of 2013 list from their online archives found here: http://multibriefs.com/briefs/TAPPINET/TAPPINET123013.php
