Lisa May

Papermaker and Cast Paper Artist

Talk and Demonstration

Lisa May is a 3-dimensional paper artist who combines many materials into her unique and intricate work. She started using paper as an art form at the Art Student League in NYC many years ago and has never stopped.

Lisa manipulates and sculpts the wet pulp into cast forms that she then paints and decorates with collage elements. She is an Art Educator at the Newport Art Museum and exhibits her work throughout the region.

Come listen to Lisa talk about her work and do a papermaking demonstration.

Lisa will be offering a class in Cast Paper Sculpture this summer at WAA.

This event is free and open to the public!

By nature, collage is a playful process, and can lead to more original and expressive ideas.

Paper collage is a wonderful way to re-think design through shape and color, to generate new ideas, take risks within a small format, produce quick studies for larger works - and the collages are genuine art works in their own right!

A perfect class for anyone who wants to create strong compositions and explore new color ideas. This workshop is suitable for artists who work with any medium, abstract to realism.
