Drawing Animals
Steve Hamlin

A 2 part series: Mondays, February 9 & 16

1 - 5 PM

$50/session or $90/both - Member

$85/session or $125/both - Non-member

Learn to draw expressive animal portraits from
your photo or mine.

Session 1 - Monday, February 9
We will develop a line drawing which will be the basis of our portrait using the grid method as taught in my 12/8/14 class. Having taken that class will be helpful, but is not required. We'll strive for an accurate likeness with sufficient detail for the foundation of a completed drawing with shading and texture to define the form of the subject.
Session 2 - Monday, February 16
Using the line drawing created in session 1, we will add form, texture and markings to capture the shape and personality of our subject.

Participation in both sessions is strongly encouraged, but not required.

Bring a good photograph of your dog, cat or any animal that you'd like to draw. I will also have a selection of photos that you can choose from. Any photo should be a minimum of 4x6" and sharp. Larger photos (letter-size) are much easier to work from. Likewise, photos on glossy paper with good contrast are preferred.

Participants should bring drawing materials. I will also have materials available for students use.
I will supply paper.
