Hello All,
As winter keeps a hold on us, we can dream, can't we, that spring will come.....someday. April in...... NYC, although not quite a song, does hold the promise of warmer temperatures, tulips in bloom, magnolias beginning to blossom, daffodils creating fields of yellow among the green new growth.
Our trip on
April 12 will work like this: We will leave the park and lock on RTE 117 in Warwick at
7:30 AM. Somewhere in CT we will make a 15 minute stop to stretch our legs, get something to eat or drink. We should approach NYC somewhere around
11AM or a little later. The bus will come down 5th Ave. making three quick stops. (The buses are not allowed to idle, so you'll have to know beforehand which stop you plan to get off the bus.) The first stop will be around the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 82nd St. or so. In that area is the Met, Guggenheim, the Nueue Gallery, The Whitney, Central Park, expensive shopping, MOMA ,etc. The second stop will be in Midtown, around 45th Street. That's the area of the theaters, less expensive shopping, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, etc. The third stop will be downtown to yet be determined. It will be either around Greenwich Village, SOHO, Washington SQ., Canal St. etc. Lots of galleries, funky shops, cafes, people watching, Brooklyn Bridge, Hi Line, World Trade Center, etc. AWS show at the Salmagundi Club.
At
6:30 promptly, the bus will pick us up at Bryant Park which is behind the NY Public Library. We will start our journey back, again stopping in CT. We should arrive back at about
10:30 PM or so. The bus does have a DVD player so if anyone has a terrific movie you'd like to share, it always makes the trip more enjoyable. There IS a bathroom on the bus.
The cost for the trip will be $41 each which includes a tip for the driver.
