Greetings Earthings!

The aim of every artist is to arrest motion, which is life, by artificial means and hold it fixed so that a hundred years later, when a stranger looks at it, it moves again since it is life.  ~William Faulkner

What moments do you want to capture?  What do you want to say with your own artists voice to future generations?  We all want to leave our mark on the world.  So let's be sure to let our souls speak through the art we create, the paintings, photos, sculptures, poems, literature and more.. so many ways to be here long after we have departed.

The heart is always relevant... feelings and responses to nature or relationships and so many other things should be preserved for as long as possible.. The children of tomorrow will learn from the generations before... Art marries the past with the future in a profound way.  Have you found your creative voice?  It is difficult at times to stop life's crazy pace and monotony of routine in order to create a space to let these idea's be born and fully developed.  Consider how you can do this.  We can't wait to see the results!
Many of our WAA  Artists are in the West Bay Open Studios this weekend!

  2013 Little Picture Show Sign-up

Little Picture Show And Sale Guidelines

  • This show was created for the public to purchase affordable fine art in all media from WAA members. The show is held during the holiday season from after Thanksgiving until a few days before Christmas.

  • Each WAA artist is given approximately a 4'x4' wall space or a (larger) panel to display their artwork on. The Artwork should be no more than $200.00 but recommended much less for quick and easy sale.

  • The definition of "little Picture" is image sizes 8"x10" or smaller. The pieces must be properly framed if warranted and ready to be hung.

  • Sign up begins October 15th with 45 spaces available on a first come, first serve basis. A waiting list will be kept at the gallery once the show has filled.

  • Hanging for the LPS is on Wednesday. Nov 20th -Friday Nov 22nd from 11-3pm. Numbers will be attached to all the spaces and corresponding numbers will be in a bowl. As each artist comes in the gallery to hang their work they will pick a number at random from the bowl and obtain the space that matches the number they choose. Hanging supplies are provided.

  • The entry fee is $20.00 and 30% commission will be taken from all sales.

  • Each Artist must fill out a form listing all artwork by title and price. The forms are kept in a binder at the desk where all sales can be recorded. At the end of the show the artist must sign the form when they pick up their work confirming at that point that all the work is accounted for.

  • As work sells someone from the gallery will call the artist who may then put more work up to fill the empty space/s.

  • Pick up of artwork must occur on the date given. The gallery will not be able to store work during holiday shut down. Please contact the gallery if special arrangements need to be made to pick up your artwork.

Announcement from our President

As President of the Wickford Art Association I am happy to announce that at Tuesday's board meeting on October 15, 2013, we unanimously voted to promote Sarah Tallarico to the position of Executive Director of the Wickford Art Association. Sarah's responsibilities have increased exponentially in the past year and will continue to expand with the building expansion, so a change in title is both timely and highly deserved.
Judith Anderson

Catalysis plays from 2-4pm at this event coming up... Hope to see you soon!
