Combined Media

"My talent is the gift, my work is the vehicle, my time is now".......

Theresa Girard, a native of Providence, fell in love at crayons. A color expert and educator for a large manufacturing company, she advanced to the top of her career in the world of corporate marketing, education, and training. Always engaged in creativity, she staged and styled numerous photo shoots, large trade productions, and program development from New York to LA.

Theresa Girard
September 2013 Featured Juried Artist of the Month

Theresa would be the first to tell you that she does not fit into a traditional role. She crafted her own education while studying early 20th Century artists, abstract expressionism and color field painters. She credits her many mentors including Al Lachman, Ellen Rolli, Jenny Nelson, Michael Domina, and many more for their generous time and teachings. A paintbrush warrior of sorts, she has developed her own language of color, mark making, and is devoted to texture and good composition. In her process, she adds and subtracts layers of paint making both conscious and unconscious decisions, seeking compelling interactions. "The images I create are a personal interpretation of my energy."

Theresa, an accomplished artist is the founder and Art Director Emeritus of Access to Art, a community based fine art program in South County. She has received several awards for her outstanding service in program development and art fundraising. She is a Signature Artist member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters and is the recipient of the Golden Artist Award for her work on the international level. Theresa's work has been featured in several national publications including, The Artist Magazine, The Palette Magazine, Art Collector and books both self published and with colleague artists.

Ms. Girard is represented by East Coast Arts Boston,MA. RIArtists.com, Gallerie Ellipsis, Newport, RI and The William Joseph Gallery in Santa Fe, NM. She has been involved in several solo and combined artist shows throughout New England, Florida and California. Theresa is a juried artist member of the Providence Art Club, and was recently featured at The Atrium, One Financial Plaza in downtown Providence. She credits her tenure at Wickford Art Association with many opportunities to grow and interact with her "pay it forward" philosophy. She is a constant advocate for her brother John, a head injury survivor, who has given her the passion to persevere and move forward.

She is a much sought after instructor on the east coast through Theresa Girard "Workshops for Creative People." (c)"Theresa's classes are the best I have ever encountered. She provides an exceptional amount of information and is generous with all of her knowledge." Sue Baxter- student.

Ms. Girard is married to Paul (also an accomplished craftsman) has 3 boys and 8 wonderful grandchildren. Theresa works from her studio/gallery in Narragansett RI and Bonita Springs, FL. Her art can be viewed in her studio by appointment, by chance, or at www.tgirard.com.
