"The Blues" May 17th- June 2nd 2013

Juror Statement: Seb Borges

What a pleasure to be the juror of an exhibition with such outstanding submissions! When the Wickford Art Association asked me to jury The Blues, I knew it was a great fit for me. Blue is my favorite color, and the blues are my favorite music. In each medium on display here, my criteria boiled down to selecting the art I'd most enjoy viewing in my own gallery. I looked at color, presentation and mood, and above all, whether the piece spoke to me. I was especially impressed with the strength of the photography entries... A whole show of the photographs alone would have been superb. I was thoroughly delighted with the artistic talent that the Wickford Art Association is nurturing in our state!

1st Place- Claudia Crudele Venditto

My choice of first place: I felt that this piece met all the criteria of the

exhibition: color, music and mood.

2nd Place -Pamela Sherer

As I mentioned in my previous statement- I felt that this was a wonderful representation of the color and mood

3rd Place- Janet MacCausland

The third place winner is and excellent interpretation of the blue color and the mood that it sets

HM: Ann Cody Joyce

I chose Cory Joyce's oil because I was intrigued by the color and whimsical feeling that it presented

HM: Lori Jeremiah

Loris piece was a positive struggle, although the color blue wasn't

presented, the feeling and tone of the blues were certainly strong

JA: Sarah Tallarico

Sarah's piece was very well done technically and presented, and impeccable use of color

JA: Nina Ackmann

My other jurors' choice award went to Nina Ackmann for capturing the true sense of emotional and musical blues
