Tax Free for Artists
   A message from Ellen Waxmann...

Greetings... please help rebuild RI's economy with the arts!

Arts legislation is still pending relating to the state wide exemption of sales tax for one of a kind works by artists, writers, and composers. There are just a few more weeks that the RI General Assembly will be in session. Now is the time to bring this issue to the forefront by writing letters to our local newspapers and contacting our state's leaders. Below you will find key points you may include in your letter, links to a list of your district Senators and Representatives, and links to the actual bill text.

Include these points in your letter to your local Representative and change the bill number to 2013 S-743 for your letter to your local Senator...

Please support 2013 H-5844 - An act relating to the state wide exemption of sales tax for artists, writers, and composers.

1. It will provide equitable benefits to all Rhode Island communities rather than to simply a limited few.

2. It will provide equitable benefits to all Rhode Island artists, galleries, writers, composers, rather than to simply a limited few.

3. It will promote tourism, create jobs, and improve property values.

4. It will help our entire state's economy.

Please support 2013 H-5844, not just art industries, but all of Rhode Island will benefit.
