New Wickford Art Festival 50th WAA Juried Member Booth Policy
Calling all Wickford Art Association Juried Artist Members!
We want to encourage our Juried Artist Members to exhibit at this years Wickford Art Festival. Please know that this year, as a Juried Artist Member, you will be considered already juried in. In the spirit of celebrating our 50th Anniversary, we will designate up to 10 booths that may be shared by 2 artists. This will allow you to share the cost of the $200 and save on not having to pay the juror fee. A $10 temporary tax id will also be required for each artist. Please contact our Festival Director, Rich Watrous, by April 10th at www.festivaldirector@wickfordart.org. or call 401-663-5971 and submit a festival application for each artist with the shared Dual Member Artist designation clearly noted.
5Oth Anniversary T-Shirt Logo Design Contest
Over the years, many creative logos have graced the cover of our festival brochure and been the design featured on our annual T-shirt. There have been artists represented, as well as brushes and pallet's. Boats and ships of various sizes, waves and water symbols.
So now this year for our 50th what do you imagine? How would you symbolize our great art heritage?
What clever concept can you provide?
Our annual Festival T-shirt contest is underway. We are calling all Members of the Wickford Art Association to create multiple entries of a one color logo. No specific size is required, as all logos will be scaled to fit.
The winning design will have a prominent place in our Marketing, in the 50th Golden Anniversary Brochure and on the T-shirt of course. There is also a $100 award for the winner of the contest.
All entries must be received at the gallery by April 20th 2012
More Excitement Is On For The 50th So Help Us Celebrate!
This year marks our Golden Anniversary and in that spirit we want to remember the past and remember those artists that established this rich creative tradition in the Village of Wickford. So with that in mind we need your help as we are looking for Memorabilia, past T-shirt designs, and written memories. We are calling for examples of Art and paintings created by early members and past participants. What do you have from the 60's or 70's that reminds you of the early festival's? We need material from the community as well.
An exhibit at the North Kingstown Free Library of the Paintings of Festival Founding Father John Huszer will open at the beginning of June with other memorabilia.
A slide show presentation and talk will be given June 20th about the history of the festival and its beginnings. This talk will be given by Gail Burda and Elizabeth Donovan at the NK Free Library.
In mid June, the Wickford Art Association and Wilson's of Wickford will co-host a historic exhibition in celebration of the Festival's 50th Anniversary. The exhibit will feature works of art from founding and early members of the Art Association and Festival, and will be open to the public through the duration of the festival. A gala exhibition opening is scheduled for Friday evening, June 15th at the store.
