October/November 2016

Another two months have gone by and it's time for another publication of my "monthly" Newsletter.  This one contains articles I wrote for my blog and for others (I can write an article for your newsletter if you like!) in October and November of 2016.  Though my available time for writing articles is dwindling, I always make time to answer questions that come my way.  Like those below in this Newsletter.  Be sure to contact me with your questions and get answers before the new year starts!
Salvage Packaging v. Overpack:  What's the Difference?

A common source of confusion among hazardous materials shippers and carriers is the distinction between these two very different forms of packaging.  Don't be confused!  Read this short article I wrote for New Pig's blog.

Curious how a YouTube video can address hazardous waste and HazMat transportation?  Well, in a short video I just posted to my channel I stand outside of a hazardous waste facility in Milwaukee, WI and explain a few things about the regulations.  Check it out!

Haz Waste Transporter1 Transporter Response to Hazardous Waste Releases

USEPA regulations for transporters of hazardous waste are found in Part 263 of Title 40.  One responsibility of a hazardous waste transporter is to respond immediately and appropriately to a release of a hazardous waste that occurs in transportation.

History of the e-Manifest System

You may have heard of EPA's efforts to implement a system to allow for the use of electronic manifests to document the transportation of a hazardous waste.  This isn't the whole article on that subject - I'm still working on it!  This is a timeline summarizing the high points in the progression from paper to electronic when documenting the transport of hazardous waste.  Be sure to watch my blog and this Newsletter for more information on this subject.

Do you have a question?

Man with Question Mark

You have questions?  I have answers:
Logo of the International Air Transport Association
The transportation of dangerous goods by air - domestic or international - requires compliance with the Dangerous Goods Regulations of the International Air Transport Association (IATA)

Logo of the International Maritime Organization The international transport of dangerous goods by vessel requires compliance with the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code) of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Both of the international regulatory agencies require training for those persons involved in the shipping, packing, or preparation of dangerous goods for transportation by their respective modes.
I can provide this training!

A white Christmas
A white Christmas!

Business, travel, and the Holidays may keep you from reading the articles in this Newsletter this month.  That's OK!  Just save it for those slow days of early January.  Or, you can always check out my archive of past Newsletters.  Whatever you have time for, remember to contact me if you ever have any questions about the transportation of hazardous materials - domestic or international - or the management of waste - hazardous, used oil, universal waste, or non-hazardous (state regulations apply to non-hazardous waste).

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
