Daniels Training Services
July & August 2015

Two months since my last "monthly" newsletter!  I've gotta find a way to keep these things on schedule.  The challenge has been in writing articles and creating this newsletter when I've been so busy with Onsite Training, Webinars, and Consulting.  Of course, I also made time for a working vacation with my family and chaperoned a work trip with a bunch of kids to Grand Rapids, MI.
56th Edition of the IATA DGR

Shipper's Responsibilities in the Dangerous Goods Regulations of IATA

If you ship dangerous goods by air, you must comply with the IATA DGR.  As a Shipper, you're responsibilities are vast and complicated.  Read a brief summary of them here, right from Subsection 1.3 of the IATA DGR.

Containers of Hazardous Waste
From the Archives:
"Waste" and the Proper Shipping Name

First published in August of 2011 - we were HazMat Trainers once, and young - this article explains a very simple requirement of both USEPA and USDOT regulations: the requirement to identify a hazardous waste in transportation.

State Specific Regulations

This Month: Arizona! A

It's all here!  If you generate a waste in Arizona (hazardous, non-hazardous, used oil, or universal) then you must read this article summarizing your State and Federal responsibilities for its on-site management.  If you do business in Arizona, don't miss this!  Waste Management in Arizona.

What's Coming Down the Pipeline?

The Regulatory Pipeline

July was a slow month - and August a little less so - for Rules and Regulations (both proposed and final) and Notices related to the transportation of HazMat and the management of waste.  But "slow" doesn't mean "none", so be sure to check out what made it to the Federal Register in July from the EPA, FAA, FMCSA, FRA, and PHMSA.

Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest USEPA Registered Printers of the Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest

If you generate a hazardous waste that must be shipped off-site for disposal, then you are responsible to ensure that the Manifest comes from a USEPA-approved printer.  Surprised? Read this short article and view the list of approved Manifest printers.

Size Requirements for Package Markings in the IATA DGR ruler2.jpg

The Dangerous Goods Regulations of the International Air Transport Association require the use of various package markings depending on the dangerous good offered for transportation.  But will just any size of marking do?  No it won't.  Read this article and use the accompanying table to ensure your package markings comply with the requirements of the IATA DGR...and watch out for new size requirements effective January 1, 2016!

Do you have a question?

Man with Question Mark

I receive questions all the time from people just like you.  Some of them are customers - past or, I hope future - and some are people I'll never hear from again.  Either way, I enjoy answering their questions as I learn more about the regulations.  Below are some of the questions I've received in the last few weeks related to waste management and HazMat transportation.
