October 2012 - Volume 1

Greetings!

I've gotten so busy the past few months I haven't had as much time to answer questions and write the articles for this newsletter.  But no matter how busy I get I'll keep publishing, if for no other reason than the the deeper understanding of the regulations I've gained from writing these articles.  I hope reading this newsletter has done the same for you.  Please share it with others you know.

The Hazardous Waste Determination

What you don't know about the hazardous waste determination could cost you in fines.  You may be aware of the requirement to complete a hazardous waste determination, but you may be surprised by some of the information in this article.  More...

State Specific Regulations

This Volume:  Ohio! Ohio

A new feature for my newsletter.  Each volume will now contain an article explaining one facet of the hazardous waste regulations for a state with an authorized RCRA program.

This article summarizes the OH EPA's recent change from an annual hazardous waste report to a biennial.  More...

Shipment of an Empty Division 2.2 (Non-Flammable Gas) Compressed Gas Cylinder

In an earlier article I explained the US DOT's exemption from full regulation for the shipment of an empty packaging of HazMat.  But, for every exemption, there's an exception.  Like this one for a compressed Non-Flammable Gas in a cylinder.  More...
Recent Testimonials

"I've been through a lot of RCRA classes, but this one is really good.  the instructor was very knowledgeable on a lot of issues that I brought up."

Just What is a Shipping Paper?

The term is commonly used, but perhaps commonly misunderstood as well.  Read this short article (and others to follow in coming volumes) to learn more about a shipping paper and your responsibility to complete it correctly.

Training Options

The purpose of my training is to fulfill the regulatory requirements of two Federal agencies:

  1. The US EPA (and authorized states) for Facility Personnel who handle hazardous waste [40 CFR 262.34(a)(4) & 40 CFR 265.16], and;
  2. The US DOT for HazMat Employees who are responsible for the safe transportation of hazardous materials in commerce (49 CFR 172, Subpart H).

How the training is provided depends on your situation, I provide training in the following formats:

  1. Public Workshops (see my schedule above).
  2. On-Site Training.
  3. Self-Guided Training.
  4. Web-Based Training.
  5. Hosted Training.

Contact me for a free consultation on your training needs.

You may also wish to follow me or view my presentations on slideshare.  From time to time I'll upload short PowerPoint presentations on a variety of topics related to the transportation of HazMat or the management of hazardous waste.  It's a great tool for explaining brief sections of complex and important regulations.
