Safe and Caring Schools

The Safe and Caring theme for October is "Feelings."  In today's world it is vital that our children develop empathy and the ability to communicate effectively with others. Children should recognize the cause and effect of negative behavior and attitudes. They need to realize that they have the power to choose how to respond to conflict.
Students will
  • Through interactive role play and activities, learn how to express their feelings appropriately
  • Learn the strategy, I Messages, to help them resolve conflicts in a positive way

Cross Country
Congratulations to the boys' and girls' cross country teams that competed in the diocesan championships on Saturday, October 10, 2015. The girls varsity team took 2nd place and the boys varsity took 3rd. Boys' and girls' JV were very competitive as well but no team awards are given for that age group. Concluding the day was a great group of fun runners that did a wonderful job too. Congrats to everyone who received individual awards for their placement overall. Each and every one of the runners were great representations of what it means to be an OLP Crusader!
Thanks for a great season!

P.L.A.Y. Basketball
Time to Sign Up for
2015-2016 P.L.A.Y Basketball-"Participate & Learn At the YMCA"

P.L.A.Y. is an 9 week + playoffs youth basketball league for boys grades 1st to 4th and girls grades 1st through 6th associated with the Parochial Parishes. This is a great opportunity to introduce your children to basketball fundamentals while allowing them to experience healthy competition in a safe and fun environment.

P.L.A.Y teams are co-ed in first & second grade. Third and fourth grade teams are separate. This year 3rd - 4th grade teams will phase into competitive play to prepare kids for JV teams. All games will be held at the Downtown YMCA beginning the weekend of 1/8/2016 and will have a referee and scorekeeper. Playoff games are held at the Erie Insurance Arena. The league fee is $50.00/participant and all players will receive a uniform t-shirt.  Please complete the  form in the link below (both sides) and return to the school office by Wednesday, October 21st, so our coaches can organize teams & communicate the practice schedule. Most practices will be held at Church of the Cross and will begin around November 1st.

Calling All Coaches:
This program does not work without the help of our parent coaches. There is a block on the form to fill out if you can volunteer. The time commitment is 2, 1-hour practices a week in November & December and 1 practice per week plus 1 game in January & February. Have a buddy you want to coach with? Just include that information on the form. We will hold a coach's meeting the week of October 26th to review rules and create our teams.
