Pet Blessing
 Friday, October 3, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. Parking Lot in front of the School and the Statue of Saint Francis (rain or shine) The prayer service and blessing will take place in front of the school, in front of the statue of Saint Francis (rain or shine). We ask students, who wish to have their pets (dogs, cats, birds, lizard, horses, etc.) blessed, ask their parents to bring their pets to the blessing. We ask that the parents who bring pets meet their children on the parking lot as they come out of the main entrance with their classes.
If parents cannot attend, their children may bring a photograph or drawing of their pet to be blessed. Students whose parents are not able to attend should stay with their class's homeroom teacher.
If, after the blessing, parents wish to take their children home with them, they may do so, but must send a note to your child's homeroom teacher (for each child) to let them know. This is important as this will allow the homeroom teacher to make sure that your child is prepared to go home before they go to the parking lot. (Students may only leave early if their own parents or legal guardians take them, and they have given a note to their homeroom teacher. Students will not be permitted to go home with another student's parent, unless this is a traditional daily routine, and this should be stated in the note from the child's parent.
Thank you for your complete cooperation in this. If going home with parents, students should take their book bags, etc. with them to the blessing. Do not place on the ground outside for obvious reasons.
We ask that you do not park in front of the school as that is where people will be gathering. Please park on the parking lot west of the gym or east of the school.
Thanks for your cooperation. Students not leaving with parents after the blessing will be dismissed at the regular time. |

Grandparents' / Grandfriends' Day

 The OLP 6th Grade Class Families are proud to host this year's special day for Grandparents and our students. Please spread the word to your grandparents residing in Erie, PA and other towns and communities who would like to join us for this event. OLP Annual Fund Campaign
Crusader Challenge
This is an important reminder that ALL Crusader Challenge sponsor address cards are due no later than close of business 9/30/14. Donations are graciously accepted throughout the year; however, they will not go towards the Crusader Challenge as we must adhere to mailing deadlines.
If you haven't submitted any cards yet, please at least submit your own address so your children can participate in the special Splash Lagoon day knowing they had a hand in making this day possible. Remember, we have to raise $30,000 in order to go, so every dollar helps!
Finally, the drawing for the Millcreek Mall gift card and the Toys R Us gift card will take place on Thursday 10/01/14. Please be sure to return your completed coupon to the school by then.
The mailing will be going out next week. Your sponsors will be receiving their donation requests at that time, so please let them know to be on the look out for them.
I can't thank each one of you who have put the time and thought into this fundraising opportunity. Your participation is truly inspiring.
How to receive your rewards:
Lunch snack coupons= Students can purchase a $.50, .75, 1.00 snack during lunch. Just provide your coupon to the cafeteria staff.
Dress down and homework passes should be provided to your teachers as you use them. Remember to ask your teacher prior to using the homework pass to ensure they approve the assignment you would like to use it on.
Preschool Prize Box Coupons= Please have your child see their teacher to select a prize.
K-3rd Prize Box Coupons= Prize boxes will be available each week for your student to cash in their coupons.
Mall/Toys R Us Gift Card Drawing: Please have your student write their first and last name on the card provided and return it to their teacher to be entered into the drawing.
Thank you to all who have already returned their cards. If you are done submitting cards, please write "DO NOT RETURN" on your envelope and return it via your Tuesday Folder. If you need more cards, please note this on your folder as well.

FSA Save Around Erie Coupon Books
Dear families; I regret to say that we have approximately 32 families that either have not returned their coupon book or who are delinquent in paying for their order. Please do so immediately, as this sale needs to be closed out. If you are purchasing, please send in cash or check payable to OLP FSA (coupon book) In an envelope with your child's name and classroom.
I placed the first order and if they are delivered to the school today, you will receive your books this week. If you feel that your child has too many books to bring home, please call me at 835-5046/ 450-7239 and we can make arrangements for you to pick them up at the school. If there is monies owed, we will be holding your order until payment is satisfied.
I would like to thank everyone else for a fabulous job in selling these books. We have surpassed last year. I will keep everyone posted with the monies we profited once this sale is closed out. 7 & 8 Grade Youth Group
I am looking for a parent to chair the 7th & 8th grade youth group for this year, as I am unable to continue on as chair. I am happy to help as much as needed to transition whomever is willing to take on this role, as well as help out in youth group areas throughout the school year. Being involved in this group for the last 2 years has been a very rewarding experience, as it's wonderful to see our kids develop into vibrant spiritual teens! Girl Scouts
Troop 36179 News!
Welcome to the 15 new Girl Scouts that signed up during the Girl Scout Open House on Thursday night! We can't wait to get to know you --- we know you will have such a great time and make fond memories this year!!!
We would also like to welcome our 4th grade girls who will be beginning their Junior Scout journey!!!
I would also like to officially welcome our additional leaders - Sue Esser, 1st Grade Daisies and Joy Mackowski, 4th Grade Juniors.
Reminder:
WLD Ranch Outing this Saturday, October 4th, from 10:00am-12:30pm. In case you haven't signed up yet, I have attached the field trip form. Please return no later than Wednesday, October 1st (with $10.00, checks made out to Troop 36179) to Elizabeth Roach in 3B.
We will be riding horses, learning about the care of horses (with grooming of them as well) and a hayride. Please pack a lunch as we will be eating lunch following the hayride.

Morning Doves
 Now meeting every Thursday at 10 am in the Social Room. We are a group of mom's with young children who gather every week to read Scripture, talk & pray together. It is a great time of reflection and refreshment, in a casual and loving atmosphere. The kids have toys and other children to play with while the mom's chat, pray, and reconnect.
