Crusader Challenge

The 2014 Crusader Challenge

is our first ever student lead Annual Fund Campaign. These funds will be used to support and increase enrichment programs, curriculum development and campus improvements.

Information and instructions are being sent home in the Yellow Tuesday Folder today, September 9, 2014.

Safe and Caring School

The Safe and Caring School Program is utilized throughout our entire school.

The program focuses on life skills: getting along with others, communication skills, making good choices and taking responsibility for one's actions.

A different theme will be presented each month with age appropriate activities.

The September theme is "My School Community."

Students will learn how to make their classroom a safe and caring community.

Students will learn the difference between exclusion and inclusion, and the importance of including others.

OLP Spirit wear

The OLP Spirit wear started Tuesday, September 2, 2014.

Order forms and payments are due on or before Friday, September 12, 2014.

Orders and payment must be in an envelope CLEARLY marked with name. Make Checks Payable to OLP FSA.

August / September 2014 Lunch Menu

Please be aware, Lunch prices have changed for the 2014-2015 school year.

One Day Lunch Ticket = $2.50
Five Day Lunch Ticket = $12.50

One Day Milk Ticket = $.75
Five Day Milk Ticket = $3.75

Money is to be placed in a sealed envelope and marked with the following: family / student name, amount, number of lunch or milk tickets to be purchased.

Sports Day

Sports Day is fast approaching, and volunteers are needed. This annual day of fun and activities is Friday, September 26, 2014.

Students rotate through several stations of group activities facilitated by parent volunteers and their teachers. A fall Pep rally ends the day!

Students dress down and may bring water bottles that day.

FSA Save Around Erie Coupon Books

Hello families. I just wanted to touch base about the Save Around coupon books that your child brought home on August 29, 2014. If you have any questions about this fundraiser, please feel free to call me at 835-5046. One important change this year is that we are asking you to combine your monies and submit one check payable to OLP FSA. Thank you again for your participation. Good luck and remember, the turn in date is September 19, 2014. God bless us all and share gratefulness.

Box Tops

Welcome back! The FSA is pleased to announce we were able to receive over $3,6000 last year from the Box Tops for Education Program. Congratulations!

These funds supported our school and a lot of FSA functions. The FSA is asking for your support again this school year. Tell your family and friends to clip those box tops and send them in to your child's homeroom teacher.

With your help we can make OLP's Box Tops for Education

program a huge success again this year.

7 & 8 Grade Youth Group

I am looking for a parent to chair the 7th & 8th grade youth group for this year, as I am unable to continue on as chair. I am happy to help as much as needed to transition whomever is willing to take on this role, as well as help out in youth group areas throughout the school year. Being involved in this group for the last 2 years has been a very rewarding experience, as it's wonderful to see our kids develop into vibrant spiritual teens! EXCITING GIRL SCOUT NEWS!

Attention 1^st Grade Daisies and 3^rd Grade Brownies:

Our first meeting of the year will be held this

Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 9:00-10:30a.m. at the OLP PLAYGROUND!

At this meeting will receive our meeting/field trip calendar for the year, which has so many fun and enriching things for Troop 36179! I will also have re-registration forms for you to sign your daughter up. Mark your calendars for

October 4^th from 10:00am-12:00pm for horseback riding at WLD Ranch!

Permission slips will be handed out at Saturday's meeting. YEE-HA! I am in need of a few parent volunteers to help the troop out this year. It is so much fun and very rewarding, with not a lot of time or effort on your part.

After a brief hiatus, Girl Scouts is coming back full swing to OLP!!!! We are so excited to be able to offer Girl Scouts for all grade levels as follows:

Daisies - Kindergarten and 1^st Grade
Brownies - 2^nd and 3^rd Grade
Juniors - 4^th and 5^th Grade
Cadette - 6^th, 7^th and 8^th Grade

An informational meeting for both parents and interested girls will be held at the

OLP Cafeteria on Thursday, September 25^th from 7:00pm-8:00pm!

Girls' JV Basketball

JV Girls Basketball Season is here! Recent games played at a Blessed Sacrament tournament, the girls brought home the Championship trophy. Come to a game and cheer us on!

Next game is tomorrow, Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at 6:00p.m. at Blessed Sacrament.

OLP Tennis

The OLP tennis program in the process of getting underway. The Diocese Tennis tournament will be held October 3 & 4, 2014, and is open to students in grades 5-8. Bob Buckel is the coach and is planning an brief parents' meeting and first practice on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2014, at the McDowell High School Tennis Courts beginning at 6:00p.m. Please contact Bob Buckel at robert_buckel@msn.com if you are interested or have any questions.

JV / Varsity Football

With the start of football season, nothing goes better with football than PIZZA. Both the JV and Varsity football teams are selling Yum Yum's pizza coupons for $8.00 - each coupon is good for a 12 inch cheese and one item pizza. Boys' JV Basketball

Any 5^th or 6^th grade boy interested in playing JV Basketball is invited to attend open gym on the following days:

Thursday, 9/11 - 7:30-9pm

Sunday, 9/14 - 6-8pm

These open gyms are not mandatory but give the boys a chance to get to know each other and the coaches, work on their game, and see what the team is all about prior to tryouts and the season.
