Safe and Caring Schools

The Safe and Caring Schools theme for March is "Conflict Resolution."

Because conflict is part of life, students need to identify conflict and learn how to deal with differences in nonviolent ways. To do this, students need to practice listening skills and develop the ability to discuss problems, negotiate and make wise choices.

Congratulations to the Caring Crusaders Winners for

This year's proceeds will be divided among the charities that were chosen by each grade for their Advent Service Projects.  With the winter being so long and difficult, we thought it would be nice to let our various charities know that we haven't forgotten about them now that the celebration of Christmas is over.

Last week the second graders celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday with a week-long celebration. Events during the week included a Who Hair day, Fox in (crazy) Sox day, Green eggs and ham day including a trip to Cathedral Prep to listen to the Erie Chamber Orchestra perform Green Eggs and Ham.

The students also completed book reports on their favorite Dr. Seuss book and were visited by 6 Mystery Readers throughout the week. We would like to thank Fr. Mike, Fr. Jason, Mrs. Mang, Mrs. Hill, Sherry Rieder from the Erie Times-News and Kelsey Swantek for sharing their love of reading with our students.

Ian finished in 4th place on Saturday which allows him to advance to the Area 8 Tournament in Corry this coming weekend.  Best of luck to him and the other 10 diocesan wrestlers competing this weekend in their quest for a PA State Championship!

Bringing Families Together!

Parents, have you had "the talk" with your child? Do you know what you are going to say? Do you need some assistance getting the conversation started or just need opportunities to continue with success? Don't worry...help is here!

Join us at St. George Church on Friday, March 28, 2014, from 6pm-9pm and Saturday, March 29, 2014, from 9am-3pm., for Real Love & Real Life. Parents, this program is designed for you and your 7th or 8th grader. It will bring you together with other parish families to learn about love, life, chastity and God's gift of sexuality. You and your child will have the chance to enhance your communication skills, true worth, guidelines for future dating and lots more.

Here, one parent shares what they liked most about the program, "It opened a door for me that wasn't open before between my daughter and me. I definitely feel more comfortable and confident discussing chastity with her."

Real Love & Real Life is a fun, unique, interactive program presented by Family Honor, Inc. The deadline for registering is (Friday March 14th). Space is limited so register early online at www.familyhonor.org. There is no charge for this program (though donations will be requested). For more information contact Bernadette Carroll 814-572-1016 or dettedette26@hotmail.com

Angie and Kevin Ohmer (Mrs. Carol Ohmer's son) were ecstatic to find they were expecting their first child due to arrive in early April 2014. Part way through the pregnancy, Isaac was diagnosed with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome which meant the left side of his heart is severely underdeveloped and will likely need multiple surgeries with the first one scheduled shortly after his arrival on April 1, 2014.
