Jesus Christ Superstar

The eighth grade class performance of Jesus Christ Superstar is April 16, 2014, at 1:30p.m. in the OLP Church. This is a tradition for the eighth grade class here at OLP and one the students look forward to.

Have you been looking for your black attire? All eighth graders need to have a roomy black turtleneck, plain black pants, and black socks for the performance.  It is easier to find them now than in April.

7th & 8th Grade Youth Group
Attention parents involved with the 7th & 8th grade youth group! On Wednesday, February 26, 2014, we will be having a meeting after the regular 8th grade graduation meeting in the Science Lab. Mrs. Kitcey's 8th grade only meeting begins at 7:00p.m. in the Science Lab. I will be holding the youth group meeting immediately after this around 7:45p.m. or so. We will be discussing upcoming service & spiritual events, the "Lent if over" fundraiser for the kids' Cedar Point trip, and finally, the Cedar Point trip itself! So there is a lot to cover and a lot of help will be needed to put everything into place. So if you can help out, PLEASE consider attending this meeting and bringing any advice you may have to offer. Thank you & God bless!

Spiritual Opportunity

On Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 7:00p.m., OLP will be hosting YCEA, which stands for Young Catholic Eucharistic Adoration. It will be a holy hour with praise and worship provided by Selah, followed by refreshments in the vestibule. Anyone who is interested in coming is most welcome, and it will count for a spiritual hour. No registration is needed, but please make sure you sign in with Fr. David at the event so that you get credit for going. Hope to see you there!

There will also be an opportunity for students to assist with Bingo at Elmwood Presbyterian Lodge on Wednesday February 26th from 6:15 to 8:00pm.  Students will assist the residents with their weekly Bingo activity.  Elmwood Presbyterian can accommodate 6 students to assist and a parent volunteer will be needed.  Elmwood Presbyterian is located at 2628 Elmwood Ave.  The signup sheet will be available in Mrs. Ehrman's room.  If you have any questions, please contact Mary Huber at 602-6152 or at mhuber@eccaremgt.org

Spiritual Opportunity

7th & 8th grade parents. Please see the information below, as it sounds like a wonderful opportunity for both you and your child. If your child is in the Jr. High Youth Group, this will also count as a spiritual event. Just please let me know if you attend. Thanks! Brenda Barto 823-5670 or chuckybrenda@verizon.net

Providing and promoting a family-centered Catholic approach to chastity education

Bringing Families Together!

Parents, have you had "the talk" with your child? Do you know what you are going to say? Do you need some assistance getting the conversation started or just need opportunities to continue with success? Don't worry...help is here!

Join us at St. George Church on Friday March 28th from 6 pm-9 pm and Saturday March 29th from 9 am-3pm., for Real Love & Real Life. Parents, this program is designed for you and your 7th or 8th grader. It will bring you together with other parish families to learn about love, life, chastity and God's gift of sexuality. You and your child will have the chance to enhance your communication skills, true worth, guidelines for future dating and lots more.

Here, one parent shares what they liked most about the program, "It opened a door for me that wasn't open before between my daughter and me. I definitely feel more comfortable and confident discussing chastity with her."

Real Love & Real Life is a fun, unique, interactive program presented by Family Honor, Inc. The deadline for registering is (Friday March 14th). Space is limited so register early online at www.familyhonor.org. There is no charge for this program (though donations will be requested). For more information contact Bernadette Carroll 814-572-1016 or dettedette26@hotmail.com

OLP Cheerleaders Pay it Forward #ajo

Champion Cheer Central honored the memory of Alyssa J. O'Neill, a long time cheerleader, by waiving the registration fee on the competition we attended in January. In return we were asked to "pay it forward." The OLP Cheerleaders chose to pay it forward by collecting canned goods and participating in a service project with the Second Harvest Food Bank. We were able to collect 129 lbs. of food during our Little Blu Cru cheer camp thanks to everyone's generosity! The cheerleaders volunteered their time at the food bank labeling and packing canned goods. We also received a tour of the facility and learned about the organizations that benefit from the food bank.
