Grandparents' / Grandfriends' Day

Meeting the Grandparents / Grandfriends

If the youngest grandchild's last name begins with A-L, please meet in the Cafeteria.

If the youngest grandchild's last name begins with M-Z, please meet in the Gym.

Don't Forget!

The following are all optional, but encouraged, as we are trying to create a fun energized intergenerational learning environment.

1. Deck of Cards: a deck of cards for the grandparents to teach and to play favorite card games

2. Grandparent pictures from the past: a few pictures from the grandparents' past to share traditions and/or experiences with the grandchildren

3. Board Game: a favorite board game for your children and the grandparents to play (please label the game)

4. Student Pencil Case: each student will be asked to bring their pencil/marker case from the classroom to use for coloring pages and tic-tac-toe provided by the committee.

Schedule for the Afternoon

Part I @ the School-Cafeteria or the Gymasium

12:15-12:30 PM Grandparents arrive at

Our Lady of Peace Campus. The last name of the student will be referenced to assign each family to either the cafeteria or the gymnasium. (see above). There will be OLP Ambassadors in the parking lot and at the main doors to help direct all the guests.

12:30-1:45 PM Grandparents and students will have the opportunity to interact, to play games and to share stories during this time. There will be activity stations and cookie & refreshments throughout this portion of the program.

1:45 PM Transition from either the OLP Cafeteria or Gymnasium to the Church

Part II @ the Church

2:00-2:15 PM OLP Church Service

2:15-2:25 PM OLP Crusader Update

2:25-2:45 PM Sing-a-long

2:45-3:00 PM For safety and security, ALL OLP students will be required to return to their classroom to obtain their coats, book bags, and homework assignments. Following this, the authorized grandparents can take their child home following the schools formal dismissal process.
