Thank You OLP!

The Hedderick family would like to thank the OLP Student Council, FSA, Youth Group, faculty, students and their parents for their generosity and support.  We really appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers during Nick's illness.  The support from the OLP community has been overwhelming and greatly appreciated.
Thank you all so much and God bless each of you.

8th Grade Graduation Updates

6 DAYS UNTIL GRADUATION!!!
WOW! Where did the time go? Weren't we just giving them all a hug and a kiss before dropping them off for their first day of Preschool? And now look at them - all grown up and ready for their next adventure ... high school!

But, before that can happen, we have a lot going on in these last 6 wonderful days:

1. Beach Day was Today --- a big thank you to the Beach Committee for making it such a wonderful event for the children.

2. Wednesday/Thursday/Friday: Graduation practice and Early Dismissal AT NOON for the 8th grade students

3. Decorating Committee Plea: They will be in the gym on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday beginning at 6:00pm and are in need of painters, cutters and glitterers! Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Please look for a separate email about what time we need parents (moms and dads) to help on Saturday and Sunday decorating the gym. Supplies Needed: The Decorating Committee is still in need of 7-8 Ficus Trees for the evening. These will be returned. Please contact Liz Swantek at kelseygeeg@roadrunner.com if you are able to help out. Also, they are in need of extension cords and white lights - any help you can give in this area as well will be greatly appreciated - please label all of your supplies so that they can be returned.

4. Monday, June 3 - THE BIG DAY!!! 8th Grade Mass begins at 9:00 so make sure your camera batteries are charged and you bring plenty of tissues. Graduation Ceremony begins at 7:00pm and you need to be at OLP Gym by 6:40p.m.  After the ceremony, everyone is invited over to the cafeteria where the 7th grade class is hosting a graduation tea from 8:00-8:30. At 8:30pm, parents and students go to the gym for a great time of fun, dancing and memories.

5. After Party Bowling Party: Mrs. Zukowski has been nice enough to organize a bowling party for those who wish to carry on the fun. A flyer will be going out regarding the details on this, but it will be held at Greengarden Lanes after the dance.

Please make sure you check your email this week as there will be lots of last minute information being sent out.

Thank you, and enjoy this last week with your 8th grader!

Free Books
I would like to pass along a literacy opportunity that can benefit families in Erie County who have children ages birth through five.
United Way announced the arrival of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Erie County. This game-changing initiative offers free, high quality, age-appropriate books to children each month from the time they are born until they turn five years old. All children in Erie County, regardless of household income, are eligible for the program.
In collaboration with The Erie Community Foundation and other local partners, United Way is launching this program as part of our work to increase education and help 10,000 more local families become self-sufficient by 2025.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library will help you read with your child. There are many reasons parents do not read to their child, but we can eliminate one of them. Every child will have books of their very own, at no cost to you, thanks to United Way of Erie County and Dolly Parton.
Each month a new, carefully selected book will be mailed in your child's name directly to your home. He/she can look forward to new and exciting reading adventures from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library until he/she turns five years old as long as you remain a resident of Erie County. Should the child move outside Erie County, he/she automatically exits the program.

The link is:   http://www.unitedwayerie.org/imagination

If a child is enrolled in this program at birth, he/she will receive over 60 books by the time of his/her fifth birthday! And if this child has a sibling that also takes part in the program, even more books can be added to their home library!
