Monday, March 18, 2013 IS a Regular School Day. There is a mistake on the OLP calendar that went home at the beginning of the year. March 18, 2013 is NOT a day off, nor is it a snow make up day. It IS a Regular School Day. Sorry for the confusion.

Yearbook Orders
 Yearbook Orders!! If you still have not turned one in please do so ASAP. They will still be accepted. Order forms are available in the school office. Yearbooks are $20.00. Please make checks payable to Our Lady of Peace School.

OLP St. Pat's Day Cake Walk
 The Our Lady of Peace Student Council is sponsoring a Cake Walk for St. Patrick's Day on Friday, March 15, 2013. Students are permitted to dress down (appropriate for a catholic school) in green and white as well.
All students are asked to donate $1.00 or more to participate in the Cake Walk. Baked goods will be provided by the faculty, staff, and Student Council.
All of the money collected will be given to help Mrs. Pisano and her husband. Mr. Pisano has been seriously ill and is undergoing special treatments in Pittsburgh. Our prayers and well wishes go out to Mr. & Mrs. Pisano and their family.

Catholic Services Appeal
Below is the letter that went home along with an envelope for the CSA (Catholic Services Appeal). We have had a great response so far, keep them coming! Please use the envelope and return it to school or to the church office as soon as you are able.

Eighth Graders and Parents
The Eighth Grade Performance of Jesus Christ Superstar is just two weeks away!! Have you found your black attire yet?
All eighth graders need to have a roomy black turtleneck, plain black pants, and black socks for the performance on March 27, 2013. All students MUST have their attire by March 25, 2013. If you are having trouble, please contact Mrs. Cardella at kcardella@olpcrusaders.org ASAP.
**PARENTS** Have you made arrangements with work to come and attend Jesus Christ Superstar????? This very moving 8th grade tradition will take place on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 beginning at 1:30pm. This is an event not to be missed.
8th Grade Graduation Update T-Shirt orders were sent home Friday and the order form and money are due to Mrs. Carlson no later than Friday, March 15, 2013! Click here if the order form didn't make it out of your child's book bag:-)
The next Decorating Committee Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, 2013, beginning at 6:30p.m. in the Social Room. Anyone is welcome to attend. Rumor has it that arts and crafts will be happening and no artistic experience is needed. Any questions, please contact your Decorating Chairs of Liz Swantek or Jen Wallen.
Also, I was thinking that not everyone knows what happens AFTER the Graduation Dance (unless you are nosy like me). After the Graduation Dance ends at 11:00ish, all of the graduates go bowling (place TBD). After that, they go out to breakfast. So .... naps for the parents seems to be in order so that we are able to drive them around:-) We may also need to go into work a bit late on Tuesday, that is for sure!

OLP 7th & 8th Youth Group
Bowling: Forms are due TODAY. Click on the links below if you need to print out the information and take to school before the end of the day, along with your $5.00. Please make sure you address the envelope to Mrs. Kitcey. As a reminder, our annual bowling outing is this Friday, March 15th from 9:00-midnight. Please bring a new or gently loved book to be donated to a local women's/children shelter. We are so happy that the Girl's Basketball team is UNABLE to attend our bowling outing as they are going to Harrisburg this weekend for the State Championship!!! WAY TO GO LADIES!!! You will be in our thoughts and prayers this weekend

The Passion Talk:
Wednesday, March 27 at 7:00pm at St. Joe's/Bread of Life Church at 24th and Sassafras Streets. Click here to see the flyer that was e-mailed to you last week. Mrs. Wallen is the Parent Chaperone. What a great opportunity to spend time with your child as you prepare to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord.
The Youth Rally in April will also count for one of the two required Spiritual events. Speaking of The Youth Rally, it will be held on Sunday, April 28th. Your child received a flyer last Friday from Fr. Jason regarding this. NEW THIS YEAR ----- VERY IMPORTANT ---- SUPER IMPORTANT ----- SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT ----- ALL registration will be done on-line. YOU NEED TO FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY!!!!! DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS MARCH 28th!!! Once you register and pay on-line, you must print out the confirmation e-mail and give to Fr. Jason. All information was sent home last Friday.
All registrations are due to Fr. Jason by March 28th (plus we receive the early bird registration fee!) I just did David's registration this morning, and it is very easy. Just make sure to have your insurance card with you. Once completed, please print out the confirmation and send into school to Fr. Jason's attention! The website to register is www.onthevine.us.
SPIRITUAL/SERVICE OBLIGATIONS: Julia Cooney will be sending to you under separate cover, an update on where your child stands with regard to fulfilling their spiritual and service obligations. By being a member of the OLP Youth Group, they signed a "contract" at the beginning of the year regarding attending 2 spiritual and 1 service event. Please make sure and encourage your child to attend any one of our events to get caught up with their requirements.
SERVICE: BINGO will begin again in April at Presbyterian Lodge off of 26th Street. FUNDRAISER: Our fundraiser this year will be a Bake Sale for the weekend after Easter. Everyone is obligated to participate. A flyer will be going home shortly regarding what is needed from you (i.e., baked goods, baked goods, baked goods, help at masses, etc.). This fundraiser helps to keep our costs low for each of the events that we have for Youth Group.

First Grade Daisy Scouts
As a reminder, we will be going on our March field trip to the Erie Planetarium on Thursday, March 21, after school until 5:00pm. Unless other arrangements are made, pick will be at the Planetarium at 5:00pm, Click here for the permission slip that is due back to Mrs. Roach no later than Friday, March 15th. There is no cost for this event. Should a sibling like to join us, the cost is $2.50. Also, please let me know if you are able to chaperone and drive:-)
GIRL SCOUT COOKIES AVAILABLE: Is your cupboard running a little empty on Girl Scout cookies? Our 1st Grade Daisy Troop has a few boxes of the following cookies available for you! Sorry, but the Samoas were sold out over the weekend! Less than ten boxes of each are left!!!!

Girls' Night Out
GIRLS NIGHT OUT IS COMING SOON!!!..... Come join us on Thursday March 14, 2013 in the cafeteria from 6-7:30. After some confusion on the time of the meeting, KRISTA LAMB will join us to share her experience in theater! She has performed in many Erie Playhouse productions and is excited to share her experiences as well as tips on acting and performing. This event is open to all girls in grades 4-8. There will be no dues needed for this meeting but please bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to the Millcreek food pantry. COME JOIN US FOR A GREAT EVENING.
