Book Fair 2012
The Book Fair is coming!!! The Our Lady of Peace Book Fair will begin on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 and will end on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. Each classroom will have the opportunity to visit the fair on either Wednesday, 11/14/, Thursday 11/15, or Friday 11/16. Students will know what day they will attend the Book Fair in advance. You may also check on our website the times have been posted. Parents may stop by during parent/teacher conferences on Monday, November 19th from 9am-11am and 1pm -8pm; or Tuesday, November 20th from 9am-4pm. Please note this acts as the only fundraiser for the library. Funds raised go towards the purchase of new books and repair materials. Another way to purchase books and give OLP credit is to buy online at scholastic.com/fair, books will be delivered to OLP and then distributed to the purchasers. The online Fair will run from November 9th - November 27th. Click here for the Online Fair.
Flyers will be coming home with just a few of the hundreds of books available to purchase. You may send cash in an envelope marked with your child's name and the total or a check made out to Our Lady of Peace. Please remember to add 6% sales tax to the amount.
Don't forget that we will have a wish list of books that each teacher would love to have in their classrooms, these make excellent Christmas presents.
There is still an opportunity to volunteer to help out at the Fair. Set-up will begin Tuesday, November 13th at 9 am. Book Fair hours will be 9am-1pm on Wednesday, 9am-2pm on Thursday, 10:30am-1:30pm Friday, and during parent/teacher conferences. If you would like to volunteer or have any questions regarding the Book Fair please contact Beth Hill at

School Closing or Delay
As we approach another winter, it is time to remind ourselves of the procedures for unanticipated school closings and delays. School closings or delays will be determined according to the following procedure:
Schools will be closed only in the event of a declared city-wide emergency or if prevailing weather conditions are considered so severe as to place children en route to schools in a clearly dangerous or unhealthy situation. These conditions include: - impassable streets and/or sidewalks - Extreme cold temperatures and/or gale-like winds
The three TV channels will announce the closing or delay of schools during the 6:00a.m. news. Radio stations will also announce the delays and closings.
Millcreek Catholic Elementary Schools will follow the decision of the Millcreek Public School District.
There will NOT be an additional announcement for the Parochial/Catholic Elementary Schools. If the Millcreeck Public Elementary Schools are closed, then the Millcreek Catholic Elementary Schools are closed. The same procedure will be followed for school delays.
If there is a school delay, then the OLP extended Care Program will operate on its normal schedule for students already signed up for this program. |

Scouting News

DAISY SCOUTS
ATTENTION ALL FIRST GRADE YOUNG LADIES!!!
Daisy Scouts for 1st Grade is starting!!! Our first meeting is on Thursday, November 8 after school until 5:00pm. A meeting for parents will be from 4:45 until 5:00. All Daisy Scout meetings are held in the Scout House on the North side of the parking lot. Attached is the flyer that went home last week, as well as the Girl Scout Enrollment Form. I am looking for a few parents to help at each meeting, so if you are interested, simply come to the meeting on Thursday or send me an e-mail. For those young ladies participating, I note must be written to your daughter's teacher each meeting/field trip stating that your daughter is car rider and going with Mrs. Roach to the Daisy Meeting.
ATTENTION ALL KINDERGARTEN GIRLS!!!
A Kindergarten Daisy troop needs to be established with leaders. Therefore, there is no troop at this time. A mother has contacted me that she might be willing to co-lead this troop. So, if there is a Kindergarten parent that would be willing to co-lead this group, please contact me. It is such a great adventure to participate in scouting with your daughter, and so rewarding too!!!
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at kathyroach66@gmail.com or 490-4240.
Thank you, and happy scouting!!!
