2012-2013 Academic Year
The fall semester is quickly coming to a conclusion and the holiday season is about to begin. We wish you luck with your final exams and extend our good wishes for a pleasant and relaxing break from your studies.
We also wish a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season to our alumni students, the staff at our participating schools and friends of the Dougherty Foundation.
Phoenix College
Scholarship Luncheon
Phoenix College was the setting for the third quarter board meeting of the Dougherty Foundation in September. Phoenix College President, Dr. Anna Solley, welcomed the board and the Dougherty recipients for a delicious luncheon. Students shared their thoughts on education and receiving the Dougherty award for their studies this year. These board meetings at our participating schools are the annual favorite of our board members who enjoy meeting and interacting with our award students.
The Dougherty Foundation has enjoyed a long history with Phoenix College. The first scholarship awards to PC students were made in 1973. Over the past thirty nine years, more than 200 students have benefited from over $153,000 in awards from the Dougherty Foundation.
There are also many personal links to PC among the Dougherty board members. PC alumna Cathy Eden has served on the Dougherty Board for twenty years. Dr. John F. Prince, a former Dougherty board member taught at PC for a time before becoming the first Chancellor at Glendale Community College. His daughter, Mary Martha Prince, is also an alumna of PC and has also been serving on the Dougherty board since 1989.
