thirdJW House 3rd Anniversary Celebration

Thank you to all who attended our 3rd Anniversary Celebration on September 23. It was a beautiful and warm autumn day with almost 500 guests in attendance! At the event, JW House announced our new tagline: "Hope. Hospitality. Healing." This tagline epitomizes

the services JW House provides

to families facing a medical crisis.

Supporters of JW House, former guests, and people seeing JW House for the first time enjoyed children's games, silent auction, raffle, house tours, and a moving presentation from a family that stayed at JW House.

The wonderful JW House photo booth

in the picture above was created for the event by

Boy Scout Troop Troop 390.

A special thank you to our amazing event committee: April Bignel, Christine Brady, Michelle Bray, Diane Farley, Anne Marie Knapen, Myrna Tufono, Gayle Shean and her amazing auction team. Thank you to Volunteers from IBM, JW House Volunteers, Todd Goldman, Sofie Vanderputte, Rubio's, Joel Gonzales, JW House Board of Directors, and JW House Student Board.

AprilSpotlight on Christine Brady, JW House Volunteer

In this section of the e-Newsletter we spotlight one of our amazing volunteers. This month we are featuring Christine Brady, who has been an enormous asset in JW House Events. Christine is organized, friendly, and a great spokesperson for the work we do at JW House.

Last August I started my own Wedding and Event Company (Christine Marie Events), which has given me much more freedom in my schedule.  Having a little more flexibility in my schedule has allowed me to get involved with organizations I feel are near and dear to my heart.  First on the list: The JW House.  I first learned of the House many years ago when it was just an idea in a teenager's head. JW was a good friend of my sister's and our family was a big supporter when the initial fundraising was taking place.  It only made sense that when I had the time, I would become part of the dream that has become a reality.

This past year, I have had the pleasure of working on both the JW House Fundraiser Fleurs de Printemps and the 3rd Anniversary Celebration.  Specifically, I was the day of event manager for the 3rd year Anniversary Celebration. Working with so many great people before, during and after both events makes me proud to be a part of it all.   It is truly a joy to work with a community that exudes the same passion and drive that JW Knapen had.  You can feel the energy that JW used to pursue his mission each and every time you walk in the door and that's why I keep coming back.

When I'm not volunteering at the JW House, you can find me doing a variety of things.  I'm often whipping up a new recipe in the kitchen, working on increasing my running distance or making up new dance moves.  I want to thank everyone for their continued support and look forward to supporting JW's cause for years to come.
