Administrative Information
Early Release Next Wednesday

This is a gentle reminder that next Wednesday, December 16, is an early release day. This means school ends at 12:45pm. There will be no after school activities on Wednesday.
Spirit Week Next Week!

Get excited for next week - it's SPIRIT WEEK! Join us for a week of fun themes:
  • Monday: Pajama Party
  • Tuesday: Sporty Day - whatever makes you feel ready to be active!
  • Wednesday: Winter Wonderland - you can wear a hat this day!
  • Thursday: Dress to Impress - think a black tie event
  • Friday: School Spirit! (and/or clothes related to Star Wars)
FINAL Call for After School Activities Instructors!

If you would like to offer a class for our second session of after school activities, please fill out the attached form  and hand it in to the main office by TOMORROW, December 11. Session two of After School Activities will be starting the week of January 11. If you have any questions about teaching a class, please email Lauren Kalish at [email protected].
 
Lost and Found to be Donated - Check for Items!

It's getting to that time of year where our lost and found grows and grows. We do our best to return items to the rightful owner, but we need your help! Please, please, please write names on every item of clothing your child brings to school.

*Any items left after January 15 will be donated. Please come in before then to claim your items.
January Order Window Opens Saturday, December 12

Log on to our online store https://tcgis.orderlunches.com and place your child's Bus, Kinderclub and Lunch/Milk order starting 12/12/15. All orders are due on Friday, December 18. If you have not yet registered for a parent account yet, please use the school password TCGIS1 when you register.

Upcoming Drama Performances

We would like to contribute to the festive spirit of ongoing and upcoming celebrations with a couple of performances (all in room 100):

3rd grade - German Fairy Tales in Shadow Puppet Theater (H�nsel und Gretel, Rumpelstilzchen, Rotk�ppchen, Froschk�nig (3A & 3C), Schneewei�chen und Rosenrot (3B). The schedule is as follows:  
  • 3C - Monday, Dec. 14, at 8:35 & 11:25am
  • 3B - Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 8:35 & 11:25am
  • 3C - Wednesday, Dec. 16 (early release), at 8:35 & 11:25am
6th grade - Cabaret Performance
Working in groups, the 6th graders created their own cabaret performances that they will showcase on the following dates:
  • 6B - Monday, Dec. 14, & Thursday, Dec. 17, at 1:15pm
  • 6A - Tuesday, Dec. 15, & Friday, Dec. 18, at 12:15pm
7/8th grade - Media in Performing Arts Presentations
The 7/8th graders worked on their own stories to a given topic theme. They will present or perform their projects on the following dates:
  • Group 1 - The theme is "Crime Stories". We will showcase a couple of videos, a detective play and a shadow play on Dec. 11, Friday at 10:25am.
  • Group 2 - The theme is "The Mystery of Cahokia". The students will present their versions of what happened to Cahokia as videos, a puppet play and a mask play on Dec. 15, Tuesday at 10:25am.

New From Vienna!
 
Alec Tonjes is a new percussion instructor with Vienna Community Arts. Alec received the Marv Dalghren Scholarship for Excellence in Percussion from the McNally Smith College of Music. He is a young, up and coming musician in the Twin Cities and is our newest instructor in the Vienna afterschool program at TCGIS.

He is proficient in drum set, snare drum, hand drums, world percussion, and Bell percussion (xylophone, glockenspiel, and vibraphone). Alec performs and teaches around the Twin Cities. He will be teaching at the German Immersion School on Wednesdays and Fridays starting in January. Please call 651-773-9525 for more info.

Hello Parents! "German for Parents" will be back starting in January with lessons and lectures.

We will continue with the level one classes from Fall and will add another

Help with the PTO Potluck for Teachers & Staff! 
The PTO is sponsoring a potluck lunch for teachers and staff on Friday, December 18, to send them off to winter break with a smile and a full stomach.
