Busing Updates

Dear Community:

As noted in the Elternbrief last week, we are very excited to offer busing in partnership with Great River School to provide us with the opportunity of two routes. The routes offer stops on a North Route and South Route of St. Paul and neighboring communities.

Families have been signing up for the stops and the buses are starting to fill up! So far we have had 50 families sign up for busing representing 73 students. Responses have been almost 50/50 distributed to the North/South bus routes. Each bus has about only about 24 seats (on the high side) left open and we have not heard from quite a few families. Please complete the BUS COMMITMENT by this Tuesday August 25.

Based on the bus stop registration, we are still expecting more South bus commitments from families around the Ford Parkway/Snelling stop & Ford Parkway/Woodlawn stop and even a few additional families for the Page Street/Manomin Ave stop (in West St Paul).
The North bus still has low response for the Clarence/Rose Ave stop, however more than expected for the 29th/Stinson stop as well as the Mckinley/Lowry stop.

From August 25 until September 1, JME Transit company will be analyzing the school bus commitment data to finalize our bus routes and travel times. Families will be contacted with the EXACT pick up and drop off times for each location before the first day of school. Many students signed up to be/have a "bus buddy". Bus buddy matches will be based on bus stop location(s) as well as need (i.e: A grade 7 boy may be matched with a grade 1 boy and Kindergarten girl that get on/off at the same stop together). Whenever possible, students will be matched 1:1 and at the same stop or at a stop where the older student is on first and off last so the older student will be on the bus waiting for the "little buddy".

Please see the school bus FAQ. If you have additional questions, please forward to Michelle Wallace at [email protected].

Kindergarten Playdates - Mark Your Calendars!

Dear Kindergarten Families,
To welcome you all to school and provide you an opportunity to meet other families in your kindergarten classes, we are inviting you to a classroom kindergarten play date. Once you have found your child's name in the class lists, here are the play dates for each kindergarten class:

KA - Monday, August 24, 6:30-7:30pm
KB - Tuesday, August 25, 6:30-7:30pm
KC - Wednesday, August 26, 6:30-7:30pm

All play dates occur at TCGIS's playground at the school and families are welcome to bring all children in their families. The event is a casual meet & greet and the teachers of each section will be there. If you cannot make it, don't worry! There will be more social gatherings happening throughout the school year.
Information for Kindergarten and First Grade Drop Off

Given the construction on the roads surrounding the school, we welcome families of the Kindergarten and first grade students into the school with their children during the first week of school. Please be aware that parking in the immediate area of the school is limited due to the major road construction on the neighborhood side streets, including Churchill, Oxford and Argyle streets. The Streetcar Station parking lot is also under construction. While it may be a bit further away, more parking is available at the McMurray Fields and Como Park Pool area. We appreciate your consideration of our residential neighbors given the construction area.
Returning  Enrollment Paperwork - Action Requested

The summer has flown by and we are excited to see you all back at school in just a few short weeks! In order to help us prepare for the new year, we ask that all RETURNING families fill out the attached paperwork once for each student. Please note, all families must fill out a complete health form every year.

If your family's contact information has not changed from last year, please just check the box on the upper right-hand corner on the Registration page.

Again, we do not need this paperwork for incoming Kindergarten students--only returning students, please! Forms can be handed in to the Front Office, mailed in to school or emailed to [email protected].
