Board Meeting Recap and Podcast

If you weren't able to make it to the March board meeting, don't fret! Click here for the board recap. We have now started to film the meetings so that we can create and post podcasts of the meetings. Click here to find the March podcast. We'd love to have you join us on the third Thursday of each month during our meetings, but if you can't make it and you're curious about what was discussed, you can look forward to our podcasts! The next board meeting will be April 23 as 6:30pm.

Information for the Upcoming MCAs

The scheduling for the upcoming MCAs is complete! The MCAs will take place during regular English, math, and science instruction periods to limit their impact on German Immersion Learning. There are some small variations to this, which were determined based on teacher input and best practices for assessment. Below you will find the schedule. Teachers have also been encouraged to send this information as well. If you have any questions regarding the MCAs or participation, please contact Jeff Horton.

RSVP for the Capstone Benefit
April 12, 2015

Join us for the Capstone Benefit Event at 2:30pm on April 12, 2015 in the Aula. There will be Kaffee, Kuchen, and entertainment from the school and community. All proceeds help support the 8th grade Capstone Exchange Program, allowing the 8th graders to spend two weeks in Germany every spring. Come support our community and have a great time doing it! 4th Grade Parade of States Video

A few weeks back Frau Gabriel's fourth grader students created floats represe
nting the 50 United States. To show off all of their knowledge and hard work, there was a parade of states from the classroom to the cafeteria. Students and teachers lined the halls and marveled at the wonderful work of the fourth graders. Click here to watch the video! 
German Activities in the Community 
Register for the International Film Festival in St. Paul

Bring your family or go with some classmates to this year's International Film Festival hosted by the Minneapolis St. Paul Film Society between April 9 and April 25. There are over 200 films, including many appropriate for K-12 students.


This year there are three German films: Belle and Sebestian, Fiddlesticks, Lola on the Pea. If there are any questions or inquiries for more information, please direct them to Mary Anne Quiroz. Please click here to find the International Film Festival website. 

 

Come to Waldsee Fest and Win a Scholarship!
Sunday, April 26, 1:30-4:30pm at the GAI

Come learn more about Waldsee by experiencing Waldsee! Get a peek into what village life is like by exploring what we do. Try your German skills, your dancing skills, and your Fussball skills! Or sit and enjoy delicious pretzels, pastries, and coffee from the GAI.

Students in grades 8-12: We are giving away one partial scholarship for our four-week high school credit program this summer. Put your name in the hat - you may be the lucky winner! Parents: Staff will be on hand to answer any and every question you may have and to give you a taste of what your kids experience at Waldsee in the summer!

Prep Class: AP German Exam
For the first time, the GAI is pleased to offer a preparatory course for high school students planning to take the Advanced Placement German Language and Culture exam this spring. These classes will be offered on the four Saturdays leading up to the exam on Friday, May 8 (April 11, 18, 25 & May 2 from 10am-12pm). These classes will provide an overview of what students may expect, as well as practice questions from each section of the exam. Register here today! 

Basteltag: Mother's Day Cards & Crafts
Join us on Saturday, April 25 at 11am (after Kaffeestube). Perfect for dads and kids, this Basteltag (Craft Day) is two weeks before Mother's Day; make a card and decorate wooden hearts together in time to give them to Mutti. Moms are welcome too!
