Totentanz
This past week the fifth graders put on a fun and entertaining show called Totentanz.
Totentanz was a popular art form in the Middle Ages. Paintings, sculptures, written text, and music were all forms of expressing the truth of death: both the rich, the poor, and everyone in between die--money doesn't help you avoid it! Although it may be a grim message, the fifth graders did a wonderful job bringing comedy, dances, and acrobatics to the Totentanz to lighten up the mood and provide enjoyable entertainment!

An Amazing Streetball Tournament Played By The Middle School!
Yesterday in middle school we saw the stunning debut of our first ever streetball tournament. The excitement in the air throughout the week of the competition was electrifying. We had both a girls' division and a boys' division. First place for the boys were the 8th grade students, All Stars. First place for the girls were the 6a students, Queens of the Court. During half time and in between plays, we saw many colorful performances from varying classes. One of the most notable consisted of Herr Wegener, Herr Prater, Herr Schmitt, Herr Olson and Herr Lux who did a movie star dance. There was also a very successful snack and drink stand with profits going to the 8th grade Capstone trip next year.
The winners' pictures were placed in our very own trophy cabinet on the middle school floor.
We would like to extend our thanks to our wonderful teachers who helped set this up. We couldn't have done it without you. We also would like to thank our fellow press team members Gillian Earthman, Ava van Hofwegen, Ian Zibble, Amelia Huebsch, Chloe Wick and Flannery Dahlberg for writing this article and taking all the awesome pictures. We thank the whole 7th grade because they had jobs to help with the tournament and did an amazing job. Lastly we would like to thank all the parents and people who came. You guys made the whole thing worthwhile. We had a really great time and hope you enjoyed our tournament, too!
