Herzlichen Dank!

Dear TCGIS Community!

Thank you so much for participating in the Give to the Max drive and contributing to our Amity intern program. TCGIS is very thankful for our generous, engaged, and supporting community. Special thanks go to our board and leadership donors for the generous match of $17,500. This means that the first $17,500 of the online donations have been matched 1:1.

TCGIS is very proud to announce that we raised a total of $22,150 in online donations, $8,000 in offline donations, and $9,050 in pledges. This brings us to a total of $39,200! This result exceeded our expectations and we're very thankful for our committed supporters.

Thank you for your contributions, your trust, and for being a wonderful community!

Herzlichst,
TCGIS
OLPA Results Helping TCGIS Students of All Ability Levels Grow

TCGIS students will finish taking the OLPA next week. We have been able to collect a lot of great information that will be shared with teachers, students, and families to help drive instruction. Teachers, students, and families can access Pearson Perspective for resources to meet a student at his or her individual learning level. Although TCGIS finished very high in MCA proficiency scores in 2014, it is only one of many ways to measure success. Students should celebrate growth regardless of the proficiency marks. A student that scores very high should still reach higher to improve his or her learning; likewise, a student that scores low can still celebrate the growth, even if proficiency to is not fully achieved. The OPLA can help determine where students are at in meeting this year's current grade level standards and provide resources for students of all ability levels that are in line with the Minnesota standards in Math and English.  Students will be able to set learning targets for themselves and track their own growth. When students self-monitor and take pride in their growth, they increase their levels of achievement.  OLPA and Pearson Perspective will be one more tool TCGIS can use to help our students grow!
Join the 1st Grade Cookie Baking Fun
Friday, December 5

The 1st Grade teachers, Frau Krug, Frau Bledsoe, and Frau Kulhanek invite you cordially to their annual cookie baking fund on Friday, December 5th. This is the Friday before the Nikolaus weekend.

We will start cutting the cookies in the morning from 8:15-9:30am. In the previous years we always had a neighboring family baking the cookies at their home and we're hoping to do the same thing this year. In the afternoon we'll decorate the cookies and at the end of the school day we're hoping to see many parents stopping by for a 'Kaffeklatsch' (coffee and cookies).

Parents are more than welcome to volunteer with the cookie baking and/or to enjoy Kaffeeklatch in the afternoon.

For those of you who are interested in volunteering, please remember to sign up with our volunteer software Volgistics and to fill out the necessary volunteer application. Once you have turned in the volunteer paperwork, you will not need to do it again for the rest of your child's career at TCGIS.

If you need assistance with the volunteer application, please contact Isabel at: [email protected]. Thank you!
Sniffles Time is Here

With the winter not only comes snow but also sore throats and colds. Please make sure that your children bring warm clothes to school for outdoor recess. If your child still catches a cold and needs to stay at home, please inform your classroom teacher and the front office at [email protected]. Thank you!
