School Board Announcement
Opening on the School Board

The TCGIS School Board is now welcoming applicants to complete the unexpired term (through June 2016) of Jennifer Buck who resigned earlier this week. This is a great opportunity to become involved on the governance team for our school. Board meetings are typically on the 4th Thursday of each month (3rd Thursdays in Nov and Dec), with a committee meeting or two interspersed throughout the month. Board members serve without stipend and it is no surprise that Board decisions are closely followed by the school community.
While previous experience on a not-for-profit Board is always helpful, please do not hesitate expressing an interest if you would like to be more involved in decision-making at school. New Board members receive training in Boardsmanship for Charter schools during the first six months of service.

Please send the following items by September 15th to Board Chair, Denny Morrow, at dmorrow@tcgis.org:
  • Letter of Interest
  • Summary of Background; or resume
  • What you would offer the Board as a member?
  • Affirmation of availability for Board meetings?
Thanks so much! We hope to make a recommendation at the September 25th meeting!

Warm Regards,
Dennis R Morrow, PhD
Board Chair

Congratulations to our Students for their Outstanding MCA Test Scores!

Our students did a terrific job on the MCA testing. This would not have been possible without our dedicated faculty and supportive families. Thank you all for giving your best every single day!

For more information about our test scores, you can go to the MDE website here. You can also see a list comparing all test scores at the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Library Help for First Week of School Wanted
library
TCGIS has a brand new library! If you would like to help organize books in the new space during the first week of school, please contact Sarah Dye at sdye@tcgis.org to schedule a time for come in. Thank you!

Thank You Gardening Volunteers!

Thanks go out to Jeff Wilson, Matt McKinney, and the group of parent volunteers for landscaping the garden areas around the new parking lot! Despite hard-as-cement topsoil, the volunteers stuck around and got the job done! Using volunteer power saved the school at least $2,000, and likely more, since the soil was so difficult to work with. Parent Jeff Wilson also helped the school save money by using his work connections to get us the plants at a reduced cost. He is the General Manager of Horticulture Services in Woodbury.

Thank you very much!

Thank You PTO and Sabrina Fay for the Energy Boost!

Our returning and new faculty has been surprised with goodies sponsored by PTO, and Sabrina Fay (Thrivent Financial). The lunch and snacks have been highly appreciated. Teaching workshops and moving boxes is way more effective and fun with charged batteries.

Thank you for the energy boost!
