We're still looking for host families for our Fall '14 and Spring '15 Interns!

Create an intercultural experience within your own home by hosting a German Amity intern. Let your children benefit socially and academically from a native German speaker in your home!

"Living with our intern has been a wonderful experience for us. It has been so nice for us to have a friendly, upbeat adult in the house, for chatting, for getting updated about my old home country, and of course, to help with things like homework or watching the kids while we go grocery shopping. " says a current host-family.

If you're interested in hosting or supporting an Amity intern, please fill out the online form here. This is only an expression of interest at this time, and not an absolute commitment or promise. For more information about our Amity program and hosting an intern, please go to the TCGIS website or contact Isabel Vollenweider.
Festival of Nations Recap

Doff our hats to Herr Solakhau and the Blumenkranz Dance Troupe!
Thank you Herr Solakhau and the Blumenkranz Dance Troupe for the wonderful performance at the Festival of Nations.

5th and 6th graders accompanied Blumenkranz to the Festival of Nations!

On Thursday, May 1, 70 TCGIS students rode a school bus and spent the day at the Festival of Nations. Herr Solakhau with his Blumenkranz dancers, Herr Wegener, Frau Schmitt, Herr Munoz, Frau Sims, Frau Schneider-Baumeister, and the interns Katharina Ludwig and Kristina Graf gave the excited crowd a tour around the big venue. The students enjoyed food from all over the world, shopped at the international market, and watched the diverse and colorful performances. Of course, the Blumenkranz kids received the biggest applause from their TCIGIS fans. It was a fun and educational trip that left many good memories.

Thanks PTO and Families for Appreciating our Teachers!

Thank you PTO and families for indulging our teachers during teacher appreciation week with a breakfast, smoothies, popcorn bar, massages, deep cleaning of the teacher lounge, gift cards, and the generous drawing of a two night stay at a retreat center!

Call to all Parent Scientists and Engineers

As we are eagerly anticipating the building of the brand new science lab, we foresee the need for more used scientific metric ware, such as beakers, erlenmeyer flasks and plastic metric cyclinders. If your department has some of the items to donate to a non-profit, please think of TCGIS! If you have other items and do not know if they can be used at school, please inquire with Frau Lauenstein at [email protected]We have received some real treasures in the past from parents like you!

Thank you!

It's time again for the Spring Library Book Sale!
May 16 at TCGIS Cafeteria

Bring in your used German books from now until May 9, and come to the sale on May 16 from 2:30-5:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to expose your child to extra German language materials that can be hard to get, and all the proceeds support the school library. If you'd like to volunteer to help with the sale, go <HERE>.
