Change is good...and scary
It's Fall and we start a new seasonal cycle. The days get shorter, the nights longer, and we tend to spend more time in our homes.
Technology has never evolved at a faster rate, and we as a group need to be the experts. Knowledge is the key to our value and income.
CEDIA 2012 has brought some changes to my company. I now represent Wisdom Audio and Celerity Technologies (HDMI over fiber). I also have added a link to HD Tracks on my line card and resource area. They provide the best selection of HD audio content.
I have updated my home systems and dining room/conference area. After my visit to Thiel last Spring I knew that I had to update my dining room chairs (from IKEA). Charles Eames invented a molded multilayer plywood process in the 1940's and Herman Miller continues to use that technology for their residential dining room chairs. The front baffle on the Thiel 3.7 uses the same process with more layers and lower resonance. I have the 3.7's in my living room and the Eames chairs in my dining room. I also had a new custom dining room table made by The Joinery in Portland.
The next time when a customer balks at the price of the equipment and services you provide, you may want to ask about the 150K in flooring, or the 50K front door. It is our job (and ability) to convey the value in what we provide- security, convenience, and fun!
