20 YEARS OF IMPROVEMENTS
Founded in 1992 by Mr Rocco Lo Stimolo, Meccanotecnica Riesi started its own activity in Mr Rocco's home garage.
Helped by his wife Tina and son Giovanni, Rocco started making tools and components for the Sicilian petrochemicals and has become known for the high quality of his products.
In 1999 the shop in Contrada Margio was built also thanks to Government funds. The plant has been enlarged in 2001 up to the current 6000 squared meters.
Sicilian market seemed to be small for the company's potentialities so thanks to his good reputation Mr Rocco opened his company's windows to the world by creating solid relationship with Arab countries, by supplying spare parts to Qatari and Saudi companies, and American, by producing components for US Navy.
Meanwhile Rocco's other son and daughter joined the company. Angelo decided to leave his brilliant career in the army, he was a captain at the time he left, and Ester, who had started cooperating with her dad company at the time of the high school, totally joined after obtaining her bachelor's degree in public relations.
Since 2008 MR (acronym is very useful to the International audience) started a tight cooperation with Norwegian companies to produce tools and components for the deep subsea to be delivered to multinational companies such as FMC Technologies and GE Oil & Gas.
2009 was the year of the quality system improvement in fact MR gained the UNI EN 9100 (equivalent to AS 9100 and JISQ 9100) approval by Det Norske Veritas. The same year MR became an approved vendor to Agusta Westland, part of Finmeccanica group.
Today MR is appreciated all over the world for its products and managers.
In 2012 We improved our business with our logistic partners, Schenker and TNT: in the last few months 3 containers left our shop to United States harbors and tons of machined parts have been delivered to Norway.
Latins were usual to say "Nemo prophoeta in patria", a prophet is never respected in his home, in the last few years it seems MR to be more appreciated abroad then domestically but we have great exceptions with St Microelectronics in Catania and the Italian Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) we have a great relation with for decades.
