Italian Dinner Great Success Thanks to You!

The 30th Annual Italian Dinner & Auction: Bella Notte held on April 9th, 2016 at Lake Hickory Country Club was another wonderful success! A sold-out crowd of over 300 people attended and enjoyed an evening of dinner, dancing and auctions to support Catawba Science Center's mission to change lives and inspire learning through science and wonder. The generous support of the community helped raise over $95,000 enabling CSC to continue offering top-notch science education in our area. A live action was emceed by longtime friends and supporters, Chad East and Frank Young, who both grew up going to the Creative Museum for Children which later become Catawba Science Center. This year's Fund-A-Cause raised $30,000 to help bring back the beloved Flutter-By Butterfly Habitat in conjunction with sponsorship from Alex Lee, Lowe's Foods and MDI. A huge thank you to the CSC Guild for their hard work and dedication to the event as well as our Nova Sponsors, loyal donors and all attendees' for making it one of CSC's best fundraising events ever. Thank you for helping to ensure that our children have a future place to explore, discover and grow!

If you are interested in becoming part of the Guild or sponsoring the 2017 Italian Dinner & Auction, please contact Taylor Young at 828-322-8169 ext. 313.

Now Showing at Millholland Planetarium
In this adventure, Little Star learns what makes each star special, and discovers that stars combine to form star clusters and galaxies. Little Star even finds his planets and each is introduced with basic information about our Solar System.

The deep sea is one of the most mysterious and little-explored regions of Earth. We know more about the surface of the Moon than we do about the wonders hidden beneath the waves of our planet's seas. The show shares glimpses of rarely seen marine organisms: bioluminescent frogfish, jellyfish, vampire squid, viperfish, pelican eels, and the mysterious fangtooth.

LazerDaze

Featuring music from Foreigner, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Genesis,
and ZZ Top, enjoy the sights and sounds of LaserDaze,
CSC's latest laser show.

Imagine & Discover A World You Can't See!

Nano is an interactive exhibition that engages family audiences in nanoscale science, engineering, and technology. Hands-on exhibits present the basics of nanoscience and engineering, introduce some real world applications.

  • Explore progressively smaller magnetic materials.
  • Build a giant model of a carbon nanotube.
  • Try a series of interactive challenges.
  • Spin disks containing small and large plastic beads, comparing the relative effects of static electricity and gravity on different size beads.
