Science After Dark - Science Cafe

Tuesday - January 29, 2013

7:00 p.m.

Join the staff of Catawba Science Center (CSC) on Tuesday, January 29th as we kick off our 2013 Science After Dark - Science Café series at our new location Bistro 127 in Hickory, NC.

Our first presentation of the year will be a discussion on Evolution led by Dr. Howard S. Nuefeld of Appalachian State University (ASU). Dr. Nuefeld earned his Ph. D. from the University of Georgia in 1984 and specializes in botany with emphases on plant physiological ecology and the effects of air pollution on plants.

Dr. Nuefeld's conversation will not be limited to plants. He will bring his extensive knowledge of biology to a discussion focused on Darwinian Natural Selection, the evidence that supports it and how the scientific method is applied in uncovering new evolutionary developments.

The topic of evolution is sure to draw a variety of opinions and plenty of dialogue. So plan on arriving early as seats are limited for this event hosted by CSC at Bistro 127, 2039 North Center Street, Hickory, NC 28601. Participants will be responsible for their own food and beverages but admission is free for the stimulating conversation.

The 2012-2013 Science After Dark - Science Café programs are sponsored by: The Best of Beers, LLC, Focus Newspaper and Bistro 127.

  • Been told to open drawers to see what is inside?
