Letter from Staff

Dear friends,

Monday night I led a workshop called "Effective Communication through Emotional Intelligence" for SUNY Buffalo's Holistic Law student group. It was a delight to partner with this group for the first time and an enjoyable challenge to think about how the art of Nonviolent Communication could appeal to law students. This group is one of many that the Gandhi Institute has partnered with in the last month, including the Harley School, Rochester AmeriCorps, and the Mental Health Association. Collaborating with other groups supports us to stay connected to the bigger picture of community change. Everyone has a role to play in transforming our culture into one that honors life. Let's come together as organizations and individuals to increase our effectiveness, rather than slip into a competitive mindset.

Save the date for our rescheduled fundraising event with leadership coach John Engels. We'll be hosting him at the Memorial Art Gallery on April 22, 2016. This will be a great half-day workshop plus networking lunch to sharpen your skills as a leader.

As the holidays approach, you are warmly welcome at our Holidays Talking Circle on December 7th, a place for people to express whatever they are feeling about the holidays, whether joy, sadness, overwhelm, or something else. I hope to see you there!

with love from everyone here,

Shannon Richmond

All donations can be dropped off at the Gandhi House at 929 S Plymouth Avenue Monday-Friday between 9:30 am and 5 pm.
