SANTA'S HELPERS

Little girls from Our Little Roses Ministries participated in the Play "Santa's Workshop" from Centro Cultural Sampedrano as a gift for the community. The girls were the trolls who sneak into Santa's Workshop to build the gifts that Santa gives  to the poor children, so they would have a toy to play with during Christmas!  Well done girls!

GOODBYE TO A FRIEND, PASTOR AND BROTHER!

The Rev. Spencer Reece shared with Girls and staff from Our Little Roses Roses and students from Holy Family Bilingual School for one year. He conquered the love, admiration and respect from girls, students and staff. The girls were inspired by Father Spencer (who is also a Poet) to write poems to express themselves and cross boundaries of their most intimate reflections  which will be complied in his next book of poetry that will be edited by him and Richard Blanco (the inaugural poet for President Obama's second term).

Spencer, as everybody called him left an empty space in the hearts of girls and staff that learned to love him for his sweetness, patience and love. On Sunday December 16th with much sadness girls and staff prepared his farewell with a Pizza Party which was sponsored by St. George's Church from Nashville, TN. The little girls sang for him a song called "Roaring like a lion" The girls also presented a mahogany box  finely carved by the girls , which contained  59  cards inside thanking Father Spencer for his time and wishing him luck in his future. We miss Father Spencer!

CHRISTMAS GIFTS!

Christmas is a time where families come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Gifts from all the sponsors arrived to OLRM and were put in the Christmas bags! The girls also worked hard with love and dedication elaborating Christmas cards for their sponsors. OLRM thanks St. George's Episcopal Church at Nashville, TN that every year takes the letters and mails them to the sponsors.  Many organizations and associations joined OLRM providing gifts to the girls. THANKS TO ALL THE SPONSORS, ORGANIZATIONS AND FRIENDS! OLRM WISH YOU ALL A BLESSED 2014

CONGRATULATIONS FRANCIS!

The success of the Transition Program continues being a reality for the girls from OLRM. This past December 11, Francis Yadira Guzman a 24 year old girl from the Transition Program received her Diploma from the Teacher's University in Pre-School Education. Francis arrived to OLRM when she was 3 years old and her life was transformed.  Presently, Francis works as an assistant teacher of Preschool  at Holy Family Bilingual School. CONGRATULATIONS FRANCIS!

SPECTACULO

On December 12th, the home hosted a celebratory performance of 25 years of Our Little Roses for a large audience of Hondurans and special guest from the United States, including 45 graduates from the Home, women now out in the world and a living testimony to the orphanage's success. The 18-year-olds read their poetry as well as performed music and presented a theatrical piece they had been collaborating on with students from the Bilingual School throughout the year. Their voices at long last will be heard clearly by the world that once tried to throw them away.

QUINCEAÑERA CELEBRATION!

December 19 was a great day for Guadalupe, Diana, Aylin, Daysy, Kathy and Sharol who celebrated their sweet 15th.  Each girl was presented a beautiful Avary silver cross by the Rev. Debbie Self from Southwest Florida. The crosses were encrusted with delicate roses. The celebration started at 4:30 p.m. with the traditional Thanksgiving Eucharist for 15 year olds ( Quinceanera) at Holy Family Chapel where the Rev. Gustavo Galiano called them to be leaders for the younger girls to follow. Girls, staff and special visitors congratulated the Quinceañeras who wore beautiful dresses and were made-up by the older girls! A delicious dinner was served in their honor and a DJ played music that was enjoyed by everybody.  Congratulations girls!

With Love,

Sponsor A Child

There are many ways to support Our Little Roses, but one of the most valuable is to sponsor a girl. This gives the home an assurance of a steady source of support for a girl for several years -- hopefully until she becomes an adult. Sponsorships are $720 per year, which may seem like a lot, but paid quarterly ($180) or monthly ($60) is quite manageable.

If you sponsor a girl, you will receive a certificate and a photo, and you are welcome to correspond with the girl you sponsor.

Or you may wish to sponsor the educational tuition for one of our girls attending Holy Family Bilingual School, a special needs private school or university. Education is vital to transforming their lives.
