SPIRITUAL GROWING

"El Espiritu de Dios esta en este lugar"  (The Spirit of God is in this place) Was one of the hymns that the girls from Our Little Roses sang last Sunday 14 when Rev. Gustavo Galeano, the full time priest of OLRM celebrated the First Eucharist as the formal Chaplain of OLRM.

Having a full time priest at OLRM is a blessing, but having a woman priest and a poet priest to do the First Eucharist at Holy Family Chapel was a big event! The Celebrations at Holy Family Chapel will be every other Sunday as the girls continue attending San Pablo Episcopal Church at Colonia Satelite.

FULL OF COURAGE

"Time for activities" said tia Brenda, the supervisor of OLRM. All the girls got ready to do the different activities planned for the visiting group. For their first time the group from St. Mary Magdalene from Coral Springs, Florida traveled outside the United States to do mission trip and God led them to Our Little Roses where the girls received them with happiness. Tia Brenda put on the floor a 1000 puzzle and the older girls found it too complicated but it was not complicated for Dariana and Ana (two years old) and with determination they sat on the floor and immediately started taking all the little pieces and trying to put them together. They are tireless and try hard to find the right pieces the form the figure, but after some minutes they gave up.

Too much work!! Good try girls, keep going on do not fear the challenge!

LAND OF ARTISTS

The activities continued for all the girls and Sandy couldn't stand behind, she got a crayon and with consciousness of her abilities started coloring her drawing. After she finished she showed it to everybody. It was her artistic work!

LEFT HAND!

Brigit is left handed, this is her second year at Holy Family Bilingual School where she is rapidly developing her learning skills which include coloring, recognizing colors, letters and other activities related to her age. Congratulations Artists!

WHO IS THAT BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN THE MIRROR?

Katherine took the mirror and smiled at it!  She is the beautiful girl in the mirror! For the first time the girls got their own mirror. This is a special acrylic not breakable mirror that every girl got to draw her own faces or the faces of the girl in front of them. The girls enjoyed this activity that was basically for the older girls, but as there was enough material many of the little girls were able to do it. With bright eyes and showing surprise Martita, a 6 years old, asked:  "Are you sending me to do the activity that the big girls were doing yesterday?"  Her eyes opened wide when the teacher answered "Yes, go to the dining room to do the activity".

RESPONSIBILITIES

As soon as the girls return from school, they switch their uniforms for fresh clothes, wash their hands, have lunch, wait for half hour to start doing homework. Under the tutoring of the staff, they formed groups in different areas of The Home to do their homework. Martita is in Pre School and Melissa is in First Grade, both of them at Escuela Leopoldo Aguilar. They enjoy their school and are very responsible with their studies. OLRM is a large family where the older girls are role models for the younger girls.

Keep up the good work!

WEEKS-SCHILLING
TRAINING CENTER

The groups of St. James from North Carolina and St. Columba, Marathon, Florida celebrated an Eucharist Service using the vessels handmade by Grace Bailey and blessed by Bishop Frade and Rev. Debra Andrew from St. Columba.

They also blessed the linens hand painted by the girls with the OLR logo. Thank you friends from St. James and St. Columba.
With Love,

Sponsor A Child

There are many ways to support Our Little Roses, but one of the most valuable is to sponsor a girl. This gives the home an assurance of a steady source of support for a girl for several years -- hopefully until she becomes an adult. Sponsorships are $720 per year, which may seem like a lot, but paid quarterly ($180) or monthly ($60) is quite manageable.

If you sponsor a girl, you will receive a certificate and a photo. You are encouraged to correspond with the girl you sponsor, and she will reply.

Another possibility is to accept responsibility for tuition for one of the girls at Holy Family Bilingual School or at university.
