League City United Methodist Church

Good afternoon!

Rather than a regular newsletter piece or devotional, this month I simply want to share a prayer with you.  Blessings!

Joel

Heavenly Father,

We live in interesting times - times filled with the fluidity of the unknown and change.  As we set our gaze into the future during times like these, it is easy to let shadows at the edge of our vision distract us from keeping our eyes fixed on you.  That moment, the moment we look away from you, is the moment our confidence begins to wane.  So help us to both keep you as the center of our gaze and live in the confidence that you will remain with us in the present as well as the days that are in front of us.

We know that Christianity is no guarantee against trouble, but it does carry with it the promise of your presence during those troubled times.  That should give us confidence and courage.  For as long as you are with us, what is there to fear?

Bless each of us as we try to live our faith.  Where we are satisfied with ourselves as we are, make us willing to be changed.

Give us a faith that is more sincere, more vibrant, more alive, and not a religion that simply smacks of an hour's satisfaction on Sunday morning.  Give us instead a faith that can be used on Monday and will not have evaporated by Saturday.

Hear us, we pray, as we stand on the edge of time.  You alone can equip us for the tasks and responsibilities that are ours, that we might do our very best as we stand in this day.

In the strong name of Jesus we pray.  Amen.

We've invited former pastors and associate pastors and lots of former members.

We'll have special services at 8:30am and 11:00am and enjoy a meal and celebration together after the 11:00am service.
