After the stunningly successful release of Yamaha's new 4.2L V6 power used in their SHO VMAX and Offshore series of engines, Yamaha set its sights on another task. That is the making of a new lightweight, fuel efficient, midrange outboard for single and twin applications. What we now have is the all new inline 4 cylinder 200 Four Stroke, another game changer for Yamaha Power.
The new F200 is a great new product for many applications. Having retained almost identical physical dimensions and weight to the tried and true F150 Yamaha models, almost any boat that has been powered by that popular model, can now use the F200. You gain an extra 50HP per engine with no added weight or bulk and a significant price decrease over prior V6 200HP engine options. It is a great option for a little extra get up and go on single applications like our ever popular 22 Pathfinder models or for twin applications on 25-26ft's like our Grady White 257 Fisherman, Pursuit C260, and Jupiter 26 FS.
But the new F200 isn't just for new boats, in fact Yamaha made a specific effort to make this engine a viable alternative for older hulls on the water with 2-stroke power, that could not handle the weight of previous V6 options. Actually, the new F200 weighs in almost exactly the same as the previous Yamaha 200 HPDI 2 stroke including its remote oil tank; no longer needed with a 4 stroke. And because the engine is a more compact inline 4 cylinder, it can be installed on the exact same mounting centers as the 200 HPDI as well as sharing the same bolt pattern. No fiberglass repairs or steering system modifications required. The engine is also available in a short 20" shaft configuration, perfect for single repower installations on weight sensitive backcountry skiffs.
Currently the F200 is available with Yamaha's tried and true mechanical throttle and shift system. The 25" shaft version will also be available later this year with Yamaha's Command Link Plus "fly-by-wire" digital controls for single and twin installations. All versions of the new F200 make use of Yamaha's Shift Dampening System, eliminating engine shift clunk, when paired with appropriate Yamaha SDS Reliance series props.
The new F200 is currently here at Caribee on several new boat models, and limited quantities are available for immediate repower.
