Mrs. April Campos!

The meeting will be followed by parent education speaker and
Fremont parent, David Deeble.
Speaker, comedian and former world-champion juggler
(The Tonight Show, America's Got Talent!, Last Comic Standing)
David will be giving a talk, "Winning With A Bad Hand,"

PTA Volunteers Wanted!

Falcon

Do you love Fremont?

Does the energy created by the annual Jog-A-Thon put a smile on your face?

Did you find the 100+ Fremont Scholars who personally raised money through lemonade stands and bake sales to support our labs inspiring?

Do you want to get more involved in helping the PTA sustain the programs that make Fremont the gem of our neighborhood?

Fremont PTA needs

your help!

The PTA is in need of individuals interested in volunteering to help with the 2016 Jog-A-Thon, our biggest fundraiser of the year and the 2016/17 S.O.S. Campaign, THE fundraiser to sustain

 our science and technology labs.

Without volunteers to

help with these events,

our programs are in jeopardy and our scholars will lose out.

If you are interested, or even think you might be interested, we would love to talk to you. Please contact either SarahGomez-Kaveney or JillBrubaker.

Fundraising not your "thing" but you would still like to get involved? Let us know your interests and we can help connect you with a committee, program or activity that's just

the right fit!

Successful
Book Fair!

A big thank you to all who participated
in the Spring Scholastic Book Fair!

We couldn't have done it without all our volunteers - including (but not limited to): Jill Brubaker, Charla Brummel, Jackie Bucholtz, Michele Chaparro, Berna Cliffe, Lisa Dempsey, Kim Foley, Sara Gomez-Kaveney, Rebeca Haga, Teresa Hamilton, Gail Hookailo, Junko Ito, Maria Lebel, Adriana Manfredi, Amy McCleery, Jackie McKay, Michelle Pryor, Jaime Renville, Krista Richardson, Kelly Sullivan, Mandira Tremblay, Sharon Urbano and Karen Vescial.

Look for information about the next Book Fair soon after the 2016-17 school year begins. Thank you for your support!

Book Fair Co-Chairs

Principal's Message

As we enter the month of May there are a little more
than thirty days of school left in the school year, but there is still a lot of instruction and activities before the school year comes to an end. We will continue to develop academic skills and expect students to continue with their best effort in their work. The third, fourth, and fifth graders are still taking the Smarter Balanced Test and will finish with testing later this month. The results of the test should be mailed out to students in August.

Have you taken the time to see what your child
is doing in Language Arts and Math?

Our students have grown so much from academically
and physically since the beginning of the school year.
A big way to support your child is to continue to turn
them on to reading and participate in the Home
Reading Club. Studies have continually showed that students who do well academically read daily for pleasure. Students who read on a regular basis at
home also improve their writing skills.

Open House is Thursday, May 26th. This is a time to
see what our students have been doing in the classroom at Fremont this year. The Fremont staff has completed
a three-year training this year in Write from the Beginning. Write from the Beginning is a writing program that has been adopted by the Long Beach Unified School District and builds upon skills each year into middle school and beyond. Fremont students have been writing in a variety of genres and will be given a grade-level
writing prompt this month.

I hope to see the Fremont families at our school carnival on Saturday, May 21st. Thank you for all you do to support Fremont and make it such a wonderful school.
